To the great Rav, distinguished chassid* who has yiras Shamayim*, Rav Avraham Chaim[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter from erev Pesach*. In the meantime, you yourself have no doubt received the kuntres* edited on the occasion of this festival, with the letter that accompanied it[2].

I extend to you my blessing.

In this connection, I protested some time ago, and I protest again now, against the curious practice consisting of not answering Amen to the Gomel* berachah*[3], but only saying "He Who has bestowed good upon you"[4].

I am surprised that such a manner of acting has spread. Indeed, I have been able to observe, in several shuls* where I have davened, that one does not say Amen.

קבלתי מכתבו מערחה"פ. ובטח בינתים כבר קבל הקונטרס לפסח עם המכתב השייך אליו...

אגב, הנה זה מכבר מחיתי ומוחה גם עתה במנהג מוזר ביותר שבברכת גומל הנוכחים אינם עונים אמן על הברכה עצמה אלא משיבים מי שגמלך כו'. ונפלא הדבר שנתפשט המנהג כך, וכן ראיתי כמה פעמים בהבתי כנסיות שהתפללתי שם שאין עונים אמן.
