To the distinguished chassid* who has yiras Shamayim*, Rav Sh. Z.[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter written at the end of Shabbos, the 9th of this month, by which you tell me that you have arrived safely in Canada and are beginning to settle in. May Hashem, Who is Almighty, make it that your settlement should be favorable, materially and spiritually, that you may set a fixed time for the study of the revealed part of the Torah and of Chassidus*, in expansiveness and calm, physical and moral. And you will make a particular effort in the area of tzedakah*.

However, you will not wait until you reach the end of your settling-in to set a fixed time for study. For Torah, and especially its systematic study, is the vessel that draws down and contains all material and spiritual good. The sooner this vessel is forged, the more you will broaden it and the more you will draw down and receive blessings.

I received in its time your mishloach manos*[2], a bottle of Bénédictine, and I thank you for it.

I enclose for you the kuntres* edited on the occasion of Pesach*, with the collective letter that accompanies it[3], and I conclude by wishing you a kosher and joyous Pesach* festival, a good settlement, materially and spiritually, very soon.

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מיום מוצש"ק ט' לחוד"ז, המודיע מביאתם שלום לקנדה, ומהתחלתו בהסתדרות, ויה"ר מבעל הרצון הוא השי"ת שיסתדר באופן המתאים לפניהם בגשמיות וברוחניות ויוכל לקבוע עתים בתורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות מתוך הרחבה ומנוחת הנפש ומנוחת הגוף, ויוסיף אומץ גם בהקו דצדקה.

אבל אין כדאי לחכות עד גמר הסתדרותו בקביעות העתים, כי התורה, ובפרט לימוד התורה בקביעות, היא היא כלי הממשיך וכלי המקבל לטוב גשמי ורוחני. וככל אשר יקדים בעשיית כלי זה כן תקדם הברכה לבוא, וככל אשר יגדיל הכלי כן תגדל המשכת וקבלת הברכה.

בעתו נתקבל משלוח מנות קנקן מלא בנדיקטין ות"ח על זה.
