To my close relative, the Rav, distinguished chassid* who has yiras Shamayim*, Rav Yosef Chaim Shlomo[1],

Greetings and blessings,

You announced to me the marriage of your granddaughter Rivka. I therefore extend to you my blessing of Mazal Tov, Mazal Tov. The couple will base their home on Torah and mitzvos* such as they are presented by the teaching of Chassidus*. The parents and the grandparents will derive from the one and the other much nachas*, materially and spiritually.

I wish you Mazal Tov, as well as a kosher and joyous Pesach* festival.

Enclosed you will find the receipt of the package by which I send you a wedding gift.

Concerning your question:

A) In which text does the Tzemach Tzedek* evoke the fact of wearing a watch on Shabbos? I have heard nothing on this, and it seems to me he does not treat this question in the printed sefarim*. Perhaps an oral tradition exists on the matter[2].

B) How can Shabbos bless the days that precede it? This can be compared to the fact that, in different domains, the kedushah* of Shabbos already begins on the eve of that day, sometimes even from Friday morning.

On this precise question, you will consult the Mishnas Chassidim, chapter on Wednesday, paragraph 3, sub-paragraph 2, and the corresponding references of the Shaar HaKavanos and the Pri Etz Chaim. You will also see the Siddur Yaavetz, which explains for what reason one omits the prayer Vihi Noam from the Motzaei Shabbos liturgy when a Yom Tov falls during that week. This text specifies that the kedushah* of that Yom Tov also protects the days that precede it.

א) אי' מקום הוראת הצ"צ ע"ד נשיאת שעון בש"ק - לא שמעתי בזה. וכמדומה שבס' שלו הנדפסים אין עד"ז. ואולי ישנה קבלה ממנו בע"פ.

ב) איך אפשר שהשבת יברך את הימים הקודמים אליו - הוא ע"ד מה שקדושת שבת מתחלת - בכמה ענינים - מבער"ש ויש שגם קודם חצות. ובהנוגע לנדו"ז ביחוד יעויין משנת חסידים מס' יום רביעי פ"ג מ"ב ובמקומות המתאימים בשער הכוונות בפע"ח וכו'. ועייג"כ בסידור יעב"ץ במה שאין אומרים ויהי נועם כשחל יו"ט בשבוע זה כי קדושת היו"ט מגינה על שלפניו .
