Greetings and blessings,

On the occasion of Pesach* which is approaching[1], I would like to express to you my wishes for a kosher and joyous festival.

Our Sages emphasize that one of the things that hastened the redemption was the harshness of the slavery. It led from servitude to freedom. Even more, every time the bnei Yisrael* had not produced enough bricks, Jewish children were sealed into the walls in their place. These children, walled in alive, cried and screamed without anyone being able to save them. And their cry rose up to Hashem.

Beyond the facts, one can discover here a teaching linked to moral existence, concerning children who are deprived of a Jewish home, of a Jewish life filled with the light that Torah brings, who are entrusted to foreign houses, Egyptian homes in which gloom reigns.

Now, if physical slavery is bitter, how much more so is moral servitude.

We are about to celebrate the time of our freedom. Each one of us must therefore deliver himself from all that leads one to be mired in Mitzrayim*, chas v'shalom*. One must in particular strive, each one according to his possibilities, to liberate other Jews from this terrible moral servitude, to lead them from the darkness toward the intense light. One can attain this through a good chinuch*, entirely linked to the realm of kedushah*.

שלום וברכה!

לקראת חג הפסח הבע"ל, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לחג הפסח כשר ושמח.

אמרו רז"ל, אשר אחת הסיבות אשר החישו את הגאולה מעבדות לחירות הוא קושי השעבוד, ובפרט מה שהיו שמים את ילדי ישראל בקירות הבנינים בכל עת אשר חסרו בני ישראל ממתכונת הלבנים, והילדים הקבורים חיים בוכים וצועקים ואין מציל אותם, ותעל שועתם אל האלקים.

והנה מלבד הענין כפשוטו, יש בזה גם רמז בחיים הרוחניים: להילדים אשר מנתקים אותם מבית וחיים יהודים המלאים אור תורה ומשימים אותם לתוך בתי זרים בתי מצרים אשר ימש בהם חושך.

ואם מר הוא שעבוד הגוף, על אחת כמה וכמה שעבוד הנפש.

ובבואנו לחוג זמן חירותנו, על כל אחד ואחת מאתנו לשחרר את עצמנו מלהיות שקוע ח"ו בעניני מצרים, ולהשתדל ביחוד, כאו"א באופן המתאים ליכלתו, לשחרר את בני ובנות ישראל משעבוד הנפש הנורא ולהוציאם מאפילה לאור גדול על ידי חינוך כשר על טהרת הקדש.

בברכת חג פסח כשר ושמח.
