To Mr. Eliezer Steinman[1],

I greet you and bless you.

It has been a very long time since I have received direct news from you. I obtain it, however, through the Chassid*, Rav A.H. Glitsenstein, and lately I was pleased to learn that you are feeling well and continuing your activity with enthusiasm. Moreover, according to what Rav Glitsenstein told me, you are preparing a new series on the works of Chassidut*.

We have now entered the month of Adar*, in which "one increases one's joy"[2]. For this, one must be in good health, so that the body does not hinder it. In the words of the Rambam*[3]: "having a healthy body is among the ways of Hashem." I therefore wish you a complete and prompt recovery.

In this connection, I asked that you be sent something timely — a recent publication, produced from a manuscript, of a teaching of the Tzemach Tzedek* on Megillat Esther*[4]. I hope you will receive it before Purim*, which is approaching.

You no doubt know the enthusiasm I put into the Tefillin* campaign. The Chassidim* have achieved a particularly important success in this domain, and I see in it a great merit, for "one Mitzvah* leads to another"[5]. Moving from one subject to another: I have been told about the Bar Mitzvah* and a connection can indeed be found between the two points. But perhaps it is possible to devote to it an independent article[6]. With my respects, my blessing for a joyous Purim*, and to give me good news,

In addition to the Tefillin* campaign, I am also enthusiastic about the study of Iggeret HaTeshuvah*[7] of the Alter Rebbe*. It would be good for you to devote an article to this as well. The merit of that which is public helps you.

שלום וברכה!

זה זמן רב ביותר שלא שמעתי מכ' באופן ישיר, אבל מקבל אני פ"ש ממנו על ידי הרה"ח וכו' הרא"ח שי' גליצנשטיין. ולאחרונה שמחתי לקבל הידיעה שמרגיש ב"ה בטוב וממשיך בעבודתו במרץ. ובפרט, כמו שמסר לי הרב גליצנשטיין, שמכין סידרה נוספת של ספרים בתורת החסידות.

ועתה שנכנסנו לחודש אדר שמרבין בו בשמחה, שלזה צריך בריאות הגוף שלא יבלבל, ובלשון הרמב"ם היות הגוף בריא ושלם מדרכי ה' הוא, הריני מאחל לו רפואה שלימה ורפואה קרובה.

בהזדמנות זו בקשתי לשלוח לכ' דבר בעתו מה שהדפסנו לראשונה מכת"י מתורת אדמו"ר הצמח צדק על מגילת אסתר, שתקותי שיקבל עוד לפני ימי הפורים הבע"ל.

בטח ידוע למר אז איך קאָך זיך במבצע תפילין, שרואני זכות גדול שהצליחו בזה אנ"ש שי' באופן נעלה ביותר, ומצוה גוררת מצוה. ומענין לענין, אע"פ שסיפרו לי ע"ד הבר מצוה, שאפשר לקשר עם הענין, אבל אולי אפשר שיקדיש לזה מאמר מיוחד.
