To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and dedicates himself to communal needs, Rav Kalman, known as Dr. Kahana[1],

I greet you and bless you.

I duly received your letter of 9 Shevat* and thank you very much for it. You raise the question of forming a united religious front[2]. My opinion on this technical religious front[3] has remained unchanged. It is favorable, as it was before, and is even more so, if possible. I am sending you a copy of a letter I wrote on this subject[4]. It will perhaps clarify my position somewhat. I thank you for kindly informing me of the developments that will occur in this domain and in general.

I take this opportunity to tell you of the great satisfaction afforded me by your visit to Kfar Chabad*, your participation in the laying of the cornerstone of the Kfar's school, and the enthusiastic remarks you made on that occasion. Moreover, this will surely have a continuation, as is the case for everything that partakes of good — indeed with an addition and elevation — in accordance with the teaching of our Sages: "one knows the elevation in the domain of holiness"[5]. הנני לאשר בתודה רבה קבלת מכתבו מיום ט' בשבט, בו נוגע בשאלת הקמת חזית דתית מאוחדת.

והנה השקפתי בענין חזית דתית טכנית היא כמו שהיתה מאז ועוד יותר אם אפשר יותר. ומצו"ב העתק מכתב שכתבתי בנידון זה, שאולי יבהיר עמדתי קצת. ות"ח מראש אם יודיעני על דבר התפתחות הענינים בשטח זה ובכלל.

בהזדמנות זו אביע גודל הנח"ר שגרם לי ביקורו בכפר חב"ד והשתתפותו בהנחת אבן פינה לביה"ס בכפר והדברים הנלבבים שנשא באותו מעמד. ובפרט שכמו בכל דבר טוב בטח יהי' גם בזה המשך ואדרבה בהוספה ובעלי', וכסגנון חכמינו ז"ל מעלין בקודש.
