By the grace of Hashem,

To Madame Rachel Babli,

I bless you and greet you.

In reply to your letter of 3 Tevet*, in which you mention your birthday: you will surely make an addition in matters of Judaism* and Mitzvot*, in accordance with the Commandment of our holy Torah*, the Torah of life, which requires knowing the elevation in the domain of holiness[1]. In addition to the essential — fulfilling this Commandment — it is also the channel and vessel for receiving Hashem's blessings in all one's needs.

May Hashem cause this year, beginning for you in a positive manner, to be a year of success, both material and spiritual. You will give me good news of all that has just been said. I address to you my blessing of success also, and perhaps even above all, for your poems — those you write and especially the songs of life. For according to our Torah*, the Torah of life, as explained by Chassidut*, a person's life is potentially a song. It therefore falls to him to make concrete use of this potential and to make of it a sacred song.

As the singer of the songs of Israel[2] alludes: "I will sing to Hashem throughout* my life," with all the meanings of the word "throughout." With my respects,

I thank you for your gift, the two poems you attached to your letter. And perhaps there will be a fitting occasion to write to you about this as well.

ברכה ושלום!

במענה למכתבה מיום ג' טבת בו כותבת אודות יום הולדת שלה,

בודאי מוסיפה בעניני יהדות ומצות כציווי תורתנו הק' תורת חיים להעלות בקודש,

ונוסף על העיקר מילוי הציווי – הרי זה גם הצנור והכלי לקבלת ברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך.

ויהי רצון מהשם יתברך שתהי' שנה הבאה עלי' לטובה שנת הצלחה בגשמיות וברוחניות ותבשר טוב בכל האמור.

בברכת הצלחה וגם (ואולי – ובעיקר) בשירתה – בשירה שבכתב ובפרט – בשירת-החיים, שהרי ע"פ תורתנו תורת חיים (כמבואר בתורת החסידות) חיי האדם שירה (בכח) הם ועל האדם להביאה מן הכח אל הפועל ושתהי' שירת קודש

וכרמז נעים זמירות ישראל: אשירה להשם ב חיי (כולל גם הפירוש – בי"ת השימוש).
