To Mr. Menachem Begin[1],

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of the 4th of Tevet, acknowledging receipt of my letter. Without doubt, our dear friend Dr. Clarman has conveyed to you the content of our conversation[2]. As I requested of him, he must have done so with words coming from the heart, expressing the wish that you yourself would share my view.

In recent weeks, in my opinion, a development in the right direction has occurred regarding the points we addressed during our discussion. If, as I hope, you yourself have had a part in this change, be blessed for it, along with all those who assisted you in this matter. I also express the wish that you not be content with what has been done, for this is only a good beginning on the right path. You will therefore continue to exert pressure and may Hashem bring about that you achieve great success. This is, indeed, for the good of our people, the children of Israel, in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, and therefore also for the children of Israel wherever they may be. With my regards, my blessing of success, as well as to give me good news of all that has just been said,

הנני מאשר קבלת מכתבו מיום ד' בטבת, אישור קבלת מכתבי שלי.

חזקה על ידידנו הנכבד ד"ר יוסף שי' קלאַרמאַן שבודאי מסר למר תוכן שיחתנו, וכבקשתי – בדברים היוצאים מן הלב, ובתוספת תקוה אשר גם מר הוא תמים דיעה עם החוו"ד שאמרתי.

היות ובשבועות האחרונים חל שנוי בכיוון הרצוי, לדעתי, בנוגע הענינים שנגענו בהם בשיחתנו האמורה, הנה באם וכפי התקוה הי' למר חלק בשנוי האמור, תבוא עליו ברכה ועל כל אלו ששיתפו פעולה עמו בכיוון זה, ואוסיף איחולי אשר בודאי לא יסתפקו בשנוי האמור, שאינו אלא בגדר התחלה בכיוון הרצוי, כי אם יוסיפו בהלחץ שלהם וכולי, ויהי רצון שיהי' בהצלחה רבה, שהרי זהו לטובת עמנו בני ישראל בארץ הקדושה ת"ו [ומובן במילא – שזה גם טובתם של בני ישראל בכל מקומות מושבותיהם].
