By the grace of Hashem,

To Mr. Tzvi Itskovitch[1], Lod,

I greet and bless you,

I often receive news from you and I recently received a photograph of the gathering held in Lod* in which you participated. On that occasion, you delivered a few words of blessing, and it is for me a pleasant duty to convey to you the great satisfaction I derived from it, upon seeing your positive relationship toward the concerns and institutions of Chabad*, which follows your visit here.

Merit is conferred upon a day that is propitious by nature[2]. Indeed, I have been informed that on this day, the cornerstone[3] is being laid for the foundations of the fourth building in the Chabad* quarter of Lod*. You have surely played a large part in its construction, as was the case for the previous buildings. Moreover, you have no doubt added to your contribution, in accordance with the teaching of our Sages[4], of blessed memory, according to which one knows only ascent in the domain of holiness and in all that is positive.

In general, the construction of a house is a good thing, for Hashem wishes to be able to say, regarding every Jewish home: "And I shall dwell among them"[5], within each and every one of them[6]. How much more so is this the case for a new house in our Holy Land, "the land upon which the eyes of Hashem your Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year"[7].

May Hashem cause this block to be completed soon, that it fill with inhabitants — as the previously built blocks have been — inhabitants from among our brothers, the children of Israel, in general, from among the immigrants from that country[8] in particular and most specifically. Each and every one of them will receive: "rest and inheritance"[9], an eternal inheritance, with the coming of the righteous redeemer, very soon in our days, Amen. With my regards and my blessing for a luminous and joyful Chanukah*,

שלום וברכה!

מקבל אני פ"ש מכ' לעתים תכופות, ולאחרונה גם תמונה בקשר עם הכנס בלוד שכ' נוכח שם והשמיע דברי ברכה.

ומחובתי הנעימה להביע גודל הנחת-רוח שקבלתי מזה, ולראות יחסו הטוב לעניני ומוסדות חב"ד, שהוא בהמשך לביקורו כאן.

ומגלגלין זכות ליום זכאי שמסרו לי שביום זה מניחים אבן פינה ליסוד בנין רביעי דשיכון חב"ד בלוד, שבודאי לכ' חלק חשוב בהקמתו כמו בהבנינים הקודמים, ואדרבה, בטח עוד בהוספה, על פי הוראת חכמינו ז"ל מעלין בקודש ובכל דבר טוב,

והרי בנין בית בכלל דבר טוב הוא, כי ה' מקַוה שיוכל לומר על כל בית בישראל "ושכנתי בתוכם" – בתוך כל אחד ואחד מהם; על אחת כמה וכמה בית חדש בארצנו הקדושה, ארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה.

ויהי רצון אשר בקרוב יוגמר בלוק זה ויתמלא דיירים וכן הבלוקים שכבר נגמרו, דיירים מאחינו בני ישראל בכלל ועולים ממדינה ההיא בפרט ובמיוחד, ויבוא כל אחד ואחת מהם אל המנוחה ואל הנחלה ועדי קיום היעוד שיביא השם ית' את כל אחד ואחת מבנ"י אל המנוחה ואל הנחלה, נחלת עולמים, בביאת גואל צדק בב"א.
