Igrot Kodesh · Letter 9581

Volume 26 · Letter 7 · To: cours d’une collation partagée

By the grace of Hashem, the second day

of Rosh Chodesh* Marcheshvan* 5729,
Brooklyn, New York,

To the attention of the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem,
elect of the people who surpasses them, seeks the welfare of his people
and has generous conduct, descends from an illustrious family,
Rav Shneur Zalman*[1] Shlita*,

I greet and bless you,

The guests who have returned to the Holy Land[2], may it be restored and rebuilt, have surely conveyed to you orally my blessing[3] pertaining to what is timely — the inauguration of the house that bears your name[4], at Kfar Chabad*.

This will take place during a shared light meal that brings people together[5], with l'chaim* from the Chassidic* gathering[6] of Simchat Torah* and of the one that extended it during Shabbat Bereishit*. May Hashem grant that this house be worthy of its name, that it become a center for Jewish youth in the spirit just defined — that of Torah with joy, and joy, in all that concerns the person, in the Torah. Indeed, all the concerns of a person and of creation in their totality find their source in the Torah. As our Sages, may their memory be a blessing, state at the beginning of Bereishit Rabbah*, the Torah is the plan and the blueprint according to which the Holy One blessed be He created His world. This means also that all elements of creation find their origin in the Torah and reach their fullness when they conform to this origin, through the person who himself lives and exists in accord with his source. You will understand what I wish to say.

For "you shall love your neighbor as yourself"[7] is "a great principle of the Torah"[8]. I therefore pray, I am hopeful, and I am convinced that these young people will grow and that each one of them will be the organizer of several other young people of our nation, who will in turn grow in the spirit of Torah and Mitzvot*, until the joy is doubled, as our masters and leaders explain[9] regarding Simchat Torah — the joy of the Torah in each of them, and their own joy in the Torah. With my regards, my respect and my blessing,

M. Schneerson

I seize this opportunity to enclose what was recently published. It has no doubt been sent to you separately, but perhaps this letter will reach you first. The sooner the better. Likewise, I send you the receipt corresponding to the amount you transmitted through the people of Kfar Chabad before Rosh Hashana*. If the Tzedakah* of an individual is considered as...[10] and hastens the redemption, as reported in chapter 37 of the Tanya* — which you will consult — how much more is this the case when this person is the unifier of the greatest number, elected by the greatest number, exercising his influence over the greatest number.
