By the grace of Hashem, the fifth[1]

To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Shmuel Menachem Mendel*[2],

I greet and bless you,

You inform me of your birthday and here is my response. You have surely observed the customs recently adopted by Chassidim* on the occasion of their birthday.

May Hashem therefore grant you a year of success, material and spiritual. You will intensify your study of Torah* and the practice of its Mitzvot*, with generosity. With my blessing that you be definitively inscribed for a good year, as well as hoping to receive good tidings from you,

The Tzedakah* donations to which you refer are destined for the Chassid, Rav D. B. Hen*[3], of Kfar Chabad*. Furthermore, you question me regarding Iggeret HaKodesh*, in the chapter beginning: "He clothes Himself in light." Consult on this matter the notes of the Tzemach Tzedek* on this verse in the Yohel Or*[4].
