Greetings and blessings,

If you wish to accept my advice, you should seek a position as a rav. You write me that, until now, you were unable to remain long in this kehilla*, because its members do not accept a Rav who has yiras Shamayim*.

On the contrary, this very reason should lead you to remain in this kehilla*[1] and to exert your influence upon it so that it strengthens itself in the spirit of Yiddishkeit*, in the study of Torah and in the practical observance of mitzvos*.

We have received a general teaching, that the most effective vessel for material and spiritual success is the study of Torah. You surely have a fixed time for this, and I would like to know what you are studying.

It would be good if you also had a time set aside for studying Chassidus*, which is the inner teaching of the Torah, and brings light and strength to "the candle is a mitzvah and the Torah is light"[2].

With my blessing for a good settling, materially and spiritually, for yourself and for all the members of your family,

שלום וברכה!

...ואם לעצתי ישמע, ישתדל למצוא משרת רבנות, ומה שכותב שעד עתה לא הי' יכול להיות זמן רב בקהלה, מפני שלא לרוח הבע"ב רב ירא שמים, הנה אדרבה מזה הטעם עצמו צריך להשאר בקהלה ולהשפיע עליהם שיתחזקו ברוח היהדות בלימוד התורה וקיום המצות מעשיות.

והוראה כללית שמענו אשר הכלי טובה להצלחה בגשמיות וברוחניות, הוא לימוד בתורה, ובטח יש לו קביעות עתים, ואתענין לדעת במה הוא לימודו, ומהנכון במאד אשר יקבע עתים ג"כ לתורת החסידות שהיא היא פנימיות התורה ונותנת אור וחיזוק בנר מצוה ותורה אור.
