By the grace of Hashem,

20 Tevet* 5727,
Brooklyn,

I greet and bless you,

I have been informed of your state of health and your lack of vitality*[1]. At a propitious moment, your name will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us so that you may bring me good news of all this.

I know you and I know your family. It is therefore unnecessary to specify that I am surprised to see how diminished your trust in Hashem is — He Who bestows His Providence upon each and every one, including the most insignificant being. Moreover, you have personally witnessed the kindnesses of Hashem on numerous occasions. Logically, your trust in Him should therefore have been strengthened. This should have reduced your worries. In this way, you would have set aside time to study Torah*, put Mitzvot* into practice with joy and enthusiasm, without paying heed to the evil inclination* that seeks to convince you otherwise. Indeed, it is not for nothing that it is called[2]: "old and foolish."

I hope that upon receiving this letter, an improvement will have already manifested and that you will be able to bring me good news. With my blessing for healing and for bringing me these good news,

רבות ,שהרי זה מוכרח להביא באופן הגיוני לחיזוק בבטחון בהשם

יתברך ,ופחות דאגה ,ושתהיה קביעות עתים בתורה ,ולקיים מצוות

בשמחה ,וטוב לבב ,ולא לשים לב שהיצר הרע מנס ה לפתות אחרת ,והרי

לא בכדי נקרא היצר הרע -זקן וכסיל.
