To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and dedicates himself to communal needs, Rav Yossef David[1] HaCohen,
I greet and bless you,
After a long interruption, I duly received your letter of 7 Tevet. Rav Ralbag[2] has already departed from here. You must therefore address him directly at his address, 17 Amos Street, in Jerusalem. I am confident, needless to say, that you will intensify the dissemination of Torah* and Mitzvot*, in general, among those close to you and even those further away.
Indeed, we have been assured[3] that assistance is given to one who wishes to purify himself, and the Admor HaZaken* adds[4], as is known, that this also includes purifying others. In this matter, the Kohanim* possess a particular virtue[5], as it is said[6] concerning them: "They shall teach Your laws to Yaakov." With my respects and blessing,

בודאי למותר להדגיש, אשר תקותי חזקה שמוסיף בהפצת עניני תורה ומצות ועניני יהדות בכלל בסביבתו הקרובה וגם הרחוקה.
והרי הובטחנו , הבא לטהר - וידוע דיוק רבנו הזקן, לטהר גם אחרים - מסייעין אותו.
וסגולה מיוחדת בזה לכהנים, עליהם נאמר יורו משפטיך ליעקב גו'.
