To the great Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Ephraim Eliezer HaKohen[1],

Greetings and blessing,

I have received your letter, according to which there was to be, last week, a meeting concerning everything that pertains to you. If there is in this regard joyful news, please be so kind as to communicate it to me, so that I may also share in the joy.

I extend my blessing that there be fulfilled very soon the words of this Shabbos's Torah reading, Ki Tisa: "When you take (Tisa) the heads of Bnei Yisrael*"—in this year of Tisa[2]. The verse must indeed be expounded, and this word is read as if it contained a yud, according to the commentators on Rashi at the end of Parshas Shelach. You will also consult the Tosafos on Menachos 39a; the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas Behar, at the end of the first chapter of the maamar* entitled "Shabsosai"; and the Zohar*, vol. 3, p. 227a, says: "If there is no yud, the chirik*[3] takes its place."

בברכה שתקויים בעגלא דידן קריאת שבת זה כי תשא את ראש בני ישראל, בשנת תישא, כי יש אם למקרא ונקרא מלא (מפרשי רש"י ס"פ שלח, ועייג"כ תוד"ה לא מנחות לט, א. לקו"ת פ' בהר ד"ה את שבתותי ספ"א. וכלשון זח"ג רכז, א: ואי חסר יו"ד הא חירק באתרי').
