of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch*
girls' seminary of Casablanca,
may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet and bless you,

I have learned[1], with pleasure, that the inauguration of the girls' seminary will take place on the second evening of Chanukah*. May Hashem grant that this celebration be worthy of its name, that it achieve immense success in every detail, both materially and spiritually. There is no need to describe at length the great joy that this important achievement represents for education grounded in sacred values.

It has already been explained[2] that this year is particularly favorable for what concerns good education. It is indeed the year of Hakhel*[3], following the seventh year, the Shemitah*. In the era of the Temple, a great Mitzvah* was observed therein, one that constitutes "an important pillar and a most respectable aspect of the faith", in the words of the Sefer HaChinuch*[4], as it is said[5]: "Gather the people — the men, the women, the children, and the stranger in your gates — so that they may hear and learn to fear the Lord our Hashem, that they may do all the words of this Torah". Furthermore, our Sages say[6]: "This is the law of the Chatat*: whoever studies the law of the Chatat offering is considered as though he had offered a Chatat". Similarly, "this is the law" of the Mitzvah of Hakhel[3] in the present era, which consists of redoubling one's zeal when dedicating oneself to the expansion of education grounded in sacred values. If every year we are commanded to educate in holiness, how much more so in this year of Hakhel[3], which especially underscores the obligation of the community and of the individual to act and to accomplish, to the greatest extent possible, for the education of the sons and daughters of Israel — an education imbued with fear and love of Hashem, love of the Torah, and love of Israel.

Moreover, this celebration will take place during the days of Chanukah, which introduces yet another point. One must not be content with the achievements of the past. One must redouble one's zeal and effort in all that concerns good education, as the days of Chanukah indicate — whose Mitzvah consists[7] of lighting candles by adding, advancing, and illuminating[3], by spreading: "the candle is a Mitzvah and the Torah is a light"[8]. All those in charge of education and all participants in the joy of this celebration, on the occasion of this inauguration, deserve blessing. They have indeed an important achievement to their credit — the development and enlargement of this girls' seminary that was founded by my father-in-law, the Rabbi, leader of our generation, may his merit protect us — an institution that is directed in the spirit of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, whose joyful liberation we have just commemorated[9], and who gave of himself in order to spread the Torah and the Mitzvot in general, and education in particular.

May Hashem grant that the inspiration of these propitious days, these days of light, come to the aid of all those who act and who move others to act for the education of the sons and daughters of Israel on the path of Torah and Mitzvot. The success that has smiled upon them until this day will continue to illuminate their path so that they may continue their ascent, from one stage to the next. And we will all merit together, among our brethren the children of Israel, the "song, a psalm, at the inauguration of the House"[10] — the great and holy Temple, which will be rebuilt very soon and in our days, by our righteous Mashiach*. With much respect and my blessing for considerable success, as well as to bring me good news,

שלום וברכה!

בנועם קבלתי הידיעה על דבר חגיגת חנוכת הבית של הסמינריון לבנות שתתקיים בליל ב' דחנוכה הבע"ל. ויהי רצון שתהי' החגיגה ראוי' לשמה, בהצלחה מופלגה בכל הפרטים, בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

למותר להאריך בגודל ערך שמחה זו לרגלי הישג חשוב זה בחינוך על טהרת הקודש.

וכבר מלתי אמורה שהשנה הזאת היא ביחוד שנת סגולה לכל עניני החינוך הכשר, להיותה שנת הקהל , היא השנה שאחרי שנת השבע שנת השמיטה, שבזמן שבית המקדש הי' קיים נתוספה בה מצוה גדולה שהיא "עמוד חזק וכבוד גדול בדת" (ס' החינוך ), מצות ["]הקהל את העם, האנשים והנשים והטף, וגרך אשר בשעריך, למען ישמעו ולמען ילמדו ויראו את ה"א ושמרו לעשות את כל דברי התורה הזאת". ועל דרך מאמר חכמינו ז"ל, זאת תורת החטאת - כל העוסק בתורת חטאת כאילו הקריב חטאת, הנה זאת תורת מצות הקהל בזמן הזה הוא להוסיף בהשתדלות ובהתעסקות להרחיב החינוך על טהרת הקודש. ואם בכל שנה ושנה מצווים אנו לחינוך בקודש, על אחת כמה וכמה בשנה זו, שנת הקהל , שמדגישה ביחוד חובת הציבור וחובת היחיד לעשות ולפעול, במידה הכי גדולה, למען חינוך בני ובנות ישראל, חינוך ספוג יראת השם ואהבת השם, אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל.

ובפרט שהחגיגה מתקיימת בימי החנוכה, הרי עוד נקודה בזה, שאין להסתפק בהישגים שבעבר, אלא צריך להוסיף במאמצים ובהשתדלות בכל עניני חינוך הכשר, כהוראת ימי חנוכה - שמצותם הדלקת הנרות באופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור , בהפצת נר מצוה ותורה אור.

ראויים כל עסקני החינוך והמשתתפים בשמחת חגיגת חנוכת הבית האמורה לברכה שזכו להישג חשוב זה בהתפתחות והתרחבות הסמינריון לבנות מיסודו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, נשיא דורנו, זי"ע, מוסד

חינוך המתנהל ברוח רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, שהננו באים משמחת יום גאולתו, שמסר נפשו על הפצת התורה והמצוה בכלל, ועל החינוך בפרט.

ויהי רצון שהתעוררות ימי סגולה וימי אור אלה תעמוד לכל העושים והמעשים למען חינוך בני ובנות ישראל בדרך התורה והמצוות, וההצלחה שהאירה להם פנים עד היום תאיר דרכם גם להבא ללכת מחיל אל חיל, ונזכה כולנו יחד בתוככי כל אחינו בני ישראל למזמור שיר

חנוכת הבית הגדול והקדוש, ביהמ"ק שיבנה במהרה בימינו על ידי משיח צדקנו.
