Greetings and blessing,

In reply to your letter, which was forwarded to me by the members of your family, in which you ask whether you should lengthen or shorten your trips because of a possible rise in the country's currency rate.

In my opinion, you should not modify your plans for this reason. You will surely obtain the entire profit you anticipated from this trip—either because the rate will rise or for some other reason. What does it matter to you?

In fact, why should those who have the merit of an enviable lot, of standing close to Torah and supporting it, of having only a peripheral place in the world of business, immerse themselves and concentrate their minds on commercial stratagems? It is precisely to them that the verse says: "Hashem will bless you in all that you do," and they fulfill its terms by forging a vessel in the ordinary manner to earn their livelihood.

Their power to imagine, to understand, to concentrate, and certainly to attach themselves, must therefore be reserved for Torah and the manner of supporting it. And HaKadosh Baruch Hu* will know how to introduce great success—material and spiritual—into these ordinary keilim*, transcending the natural way. And thus indeed it is in practice.

I enclose for you a letter for the young man about whom you wrote to me, since I do not know his address. I thank you for forwarding it to him.

You will convey my greetings to those who belong to our community—that is, in the expression of the Frierdiker Rebbe*, all those who are connected to Torah and mitzvos*. And which descendant of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov is not? May you achieve success in your personal concerns.

במענה על מכתבו ע"י ב"ב שיחיו השואל אם יאריך או יקצר בסדר נסיעותיו מפני סברת עלית שער מטבעת המדינה וכו',

הנה לדעתי לא ישנה בסדריו מפני ענין זה. וכל הריוח השייך אליו בקשר עם נסיעתו, בלי ספק יבוא לידו בשלימות, אם על ידי עלית השער או באו"א. ומאי נפ"מ לי'.

ולכאורה, אלו שזכו לחלק היפה לעמוד בקרוב לענינים של תורה ותמיכתה ומרחוק לענינים של עולם ומסחר, למה להם להתעמק ולתת מיגיע מוחם לתחבולות של מסחר וכיו"ב. והרי בנוגע להם דרישת הכתוב וברכך הוי' בכל אשר תעשה דוקא - ממלאים הם במילואה ע"י עשיית כלי פרנסה באופן הרגיל. וכח ההמצאה ההשגה והעמקה (ואצ"ל ההתקשרות) שלהם שייכים לענינים של תורה ואופני תמיכתה. ועל הקב"ה לתת בכלים רגילים אלו הצלחה מרובה בגו"ר למעלה מדרך הרגיל, כי כך היא המדה.
