Igrot Kodesh · Letter 921 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

Purim Katan* 5711,

Brooklyn,

To our friends, the chassidim*,

wherever they may be found,

that Hashem grant them long life,

Greetings and blessing,

The Kollel Chabad* of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes* was founded by the Alter Rebbe* and constituted by him with mesirus nefesh*. Subsequently, our holy Rebbeim assumed its presidency in each generation. They directed all their efforts to firming and strengthening it. Yet in recent years Kollel Chabad finds itself in a difficult situation.

In this regard, the Frierdiker Rebbe*—among other things—wrote the following in his last appeal on behalf of the Kollel, nineteen days before leaving this world:

"Every chassid* is obligated to keep constantly in mind the tzedakah* of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes that our holy Rebbeim ask us to give. Therein lies a personal obligation, for every man and every woman, in every place and at every time, in every era.

Our Rebbeim granted their holy blessings to those who contribute to this sacred tzedakah, which is fixed and immutable, for eternity."

These holy words are surely engraved in the heart of every chassid, and I intend here only to encourage those who already possess by nature this quality of zeal, that they commit themselves still more clearly in the realm of holiness.

Those who, for whatever reason, do not yet have a Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes Kollel Chabad pushke* in their home will obtain one as soon as possible and affix it in their home. Those who do hold them, as well as the directors of this Kollel, those who act and those who urge others to action, will strengthen their contribution to Kollel Chabad, so that this institution can fulfill its mission and its role, according to the needs of the moment.

This tzedakah has the power to arouse the most powerful attributes of kindness for each man and each woman who is active in it. All will receive great blessings, with all the members of their family, for the satisfaction of all their needs, material and spiritual.

כולל חב"ד רמבעה"ן, אשר יסדו הוד כ"ק רבינו אדמו"ר הזקן זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ובססו במסירות נפש, ואחריו הוד כ"ק רבותינו הקדושים זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע אשר שמשו בנשיאות הכולל חב"ד בכל דור ודור התאמצו ביותר בהחזקתו וקיומו - נמצא בשנים האחרונות במצב קשה.

וז"ל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, בין שאר דברי קדשו, בקריאתו האחרונה, בעלמא דין, למען הכולל, י"ט יום קודם הסתלקותו:

"כל אחד ואחד מאנ"ש עליו החובה לזכור בכל עת ובכל שעה כי מצות צדקת הרמבעה"ן שאנו מצווים עלי' מפי כ"ק רבותינו הקדושים זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, היא חובת גברא של כל איש ואשה, והיא נוהגת בכל מקום ובכל זמן וקבועה לדורות, ואף ברכות הקדש.. מיועדות מפי כ"ק רבוה"ק זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע לכל מחזיקי הצדקה המקודשת הזאת, קבועה וקיימת לנצח".

בטח חרותים דברי קודש אלו על לבות אנ"ש שי', ולא באתי בזה אלא לזרז למזורזים ולהעדפה להעלות בקודש, אשר אלו שמאיזה סיבה שתהי', אין עדיין בביתם שופר רמבעה"ן כולל חב"ד, יזדרזו להביאו ולקבעו בביתם. וכל מחזיקי שופרות הרמבעה"ן כולל חב"ד וגבאי הכולל, חבריו עושיו ומעשיו, כל אחד ואחת מהם, יוסיף אומץ בעזרתו לכולל חב"ד, בכדי שיוכל הכולל למלא תעודתו ותפקידיו מתאים לדרישת השעה.

וגדולה צדקה זו לעורר חסדים עליונים להמשיך לכל אחד ואחת מעושי' ברכות מאליפות להתברך הם ובני ביתם שיחיו, בכל הדרוש להם בגשמיות וברוחניות.
