To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Shneur Zalman[1] Shlita*,

I greet and bless you,

In connection with 19 Kislev*, which is approaching, I send you the following wishes, as is my custom every year, and according to the formulation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*[2]: 'Have a good Yom Tov*. May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year, in the study of Chassidus* and the Chassidic* ways.'

We were able to coincide the publication of writings of the one whose joy we celebrate, the Admur HaZaken*, with the day of his liberation. Indeed, the bookbinder has just delivered the translation of Iggeret HaTeshuvah* into English. I am therefore enclosing a copy for you. Of course, if you would like additional copies, please let me know. With my respect, my regards, and reiterating my blessing for a good and sweet year in Chassidus*,

I take the liberty of thanking you in advance for your visit to Kfar Chabad*, on the luminous day of 19 Kislev* which is approaching. I have every hope that this year, you will go there as well, in accordance with your positive custom. Indeed, Chassidus* distinguishes this year in particular, as it is the hundredth since the passing — Hilula* — of the Tzemach Tzedek*. And it is known that the Admur HaZaken*, in one of the letters[3] he sent to Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchov* regarding his release and deliverance, sets forth several indications and explanations. In this regard, it is worth noting the following. This day is the great Hilula* of our holy master[4], whose soul rests in the Garden of Eden. He writes:

'This day that Hashem made for us is 19 Kislev*, the third day[5], when the word good was said twice[6], the date of the great Hilula* of our holy master, whose soul rests in the Garden of Eden, as I read, in the Tehillim*, the verse: He redeemed my soul in peace'[7].

בקשר עם י"ט כסלו הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, כמנהגי הטוב בכל שנה, הנני בזה לאחל לו, בנוסח ששמעתי מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר - "גוט יום טוב. לשנה טובה בלימוד החסידות ודרכי החסידות תכתבו ותחתמו".

עלה בידנו להתאים ההוצאה לאור מעניני בעל השמחה אדמו"ר הזקן ליום גאולתו, והוא שהביאו עכשו מבית הכורך תרגום אגרת התשובה לאנגלית. ומוסג"פ טופס אחד.

ומובן שאם ירצה כ' עוד טופסים יודיענו ויושלחו לו בחפץ לב.

ארשה לי להביע לכ' תודתי מראש בעד ביקורו בכפר חב"ד ביום יט"כ הבהיר הבע"ל, שתקותי חזקה שגם בשנה זו יבקר כמנהגו הטוב, ובפרט ששנה זו מצוינה בחסידות ביתר שאת וביתר עז, שהיא שנת המאה להסתלקות-הילולא של כ"ק אדמו"ר הצמח צדק.

וידוע שאדמו"ר הזקן באחת מאגרות שלו בנוגע שחרורו וגאולתו, באגרת שכתב לרל"י מבארדיטשוב נ"ע, כותב שם כמה סימנים וטעמים, ומענין לציין שאחד מהם הוא שיום זה הוא יום הילולא רבא דרבינו הקדוש נשמתו עדן, וז"ל:

"יום אשר עשה ה' לנו יום י"ט כסלו, יום ג' שהוכפל בו כי טוב, יום הילולא רבא דרבינו הקדוש נ"ע, וכשקראתי בספר תלים בפסוק פדה בשלום נפשי".
