To Mr. Betzalel[1],

I greet and bless you,

I received your greetings[2] with pleasure, through the distinguished young man of good ways, Yehuda Leib Andrusier. May Hashem grant that henceforth every member of your family know only good, a visible and tangible good, always and every day. You will strengthen your commitment to the Torah* and its Mitzvot*, in good health and with enthusiasm.

It is surely unnecessary to describe at length the pleasure caused to a soul residing in the World of Truth* by every good deed, by every addition to Torah* study, by every improvement in the practice of a Mitzvah* — in act or in word — on the part of all members of the family, and how much more so on the part of the sons — may they have long life — who are, in the expression of our Sages[3], 'limbs of their father,' especially when this takes place in the Holy Land, in Eretz Yisrael*, through which all prayers ascend to heaven, as it is said[4]: 'They shall pray to You in the direction of their land' — the Halacha* being decided to this effect in the Shulchan Aruch*, and likewise in that of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, at the beginning of chapter 94. ובודאי למותר להאריך בגודל הקורת רוח לנשמה הנמצאת בעולם האמת, על ידי כל פעולה והוספה בלימוד התורה והידור בקיום המצות, במעשה או בדיבור, של כל אחד מהמשפחה, ועל אחת כמה וכמה - בניו, אשר בסגנון חכמינו ז"ל, ברא כרעא דאבוה - יבדלו לחיים -, ובפרט כשנעשה הדבר בארץ הקדש, היא ארץ ישראל, אשר כל התפלות עולים דרך שם השמימה, וכמה שכתוב, והתפללו אליך דרך ארצם, וכמובא לפסק הלכה בשולחן ערוך ועד לשולחן ערוך רבנו הזקן - בעל התניא והשו"ע - ריש סימן צ"ד.
