To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Menachem of the Levitan family,
I greet and bless you,
Through your dear teacher[1], Rav Avraham Dov Hecht, I duly received the request for a blessing on your behalf, and I will mention your name[2] so that you may have a complete and, moreover, speedy recovery.
I have learned of the positive activity you carry out for the synagogue, particularly in your role as treasurer. No doubt you will use your influence to ensure that this synagogue is worthy of the name, that it be 'the gate of heaven'[3]. There, our brothers, the children of Israel, pour out their hearts like water before our Father Who is in the heavens, and there the Shema* is recited twice each day: 'You shall love… with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might'[4]. It will be not only a synagogue in which one prays, but also a house of study in which Torah* is learned with ardor, in established and ready sessions, according to the custom that has always been in force. The merit of the community will protect you, so that you may very quickly regain your strength and be in your place to continue your activity and fulfill the Will of the Creator, in good health, in a much broader way. שמעתי מעסקנותו הטובה למען בית הכנסת, בפרט בתור גזבר, ובודאי מנצל השפעתו שיהי' בית כנסת ראוי לשמו, וזה שער השמים, בו אחינו בני ישראל שופכים לבם כמים לאביהם שבשמים ובכל יום אומרים פעמיים שמע ואהבת בכל לבבך ובכל נפשך ובכל מאודך. וגם שיהי' לא רק בית תפלה בקידה, אלא גם בית מדרש לתורה בשקידה, בשיעורים קבועים ונכונים כמנהג מימים קדמונים.
וזכות הרבים יעמוד לו לשוב מהרה לאיתנו ולעמוד על כנו ולהמשיך עבודתו לעשות רצון קונו, מתוך בריאות הנכונה כהנה וכהנה.
