In reply to your question[1], you shall learn the following, until you have a thorough knowledge of it[2]:

A) The laws of Tefillin*, which are necessary for yourself, but not for a Sofer*,

B) Several Chassidus* commentaries dealing with Tefillin*, notably in the Likkutei Torah*, the Siddur*[3], and the Imrei Binah*.
