I bless and greet you,
I reply to your letter,[1] which reached me with considerable delay. You ask whether the reply I sent to a certain person modifies what I wrote to you when you questioned me. In fact, the two replies are entirely independent of one another, even if the question was formulated in an identical manner. For each reply depends on how the question is formulated and on its content, as well as on the character traits of the person asking. In general, all of this conditions the reply — that is self-evident.
You say nothing of the following, but I am confident that throughout the coming year you will preserve the motivation of the days of Tishrei* and the content of that month — from the acceptance of the divine Kingship on Rosh Hashanah* through Simchat Torah* and the joy of Torah and its Mitzvot*. In this way all those days will be imbued with this motivation. Indeed, everything that constitutes the month of Tishrei acquires a general scope and must exert its influence on the entire year, as various books establish.[2] And nothing withstands the will.[3] With my blessing that you give me good news of all that has been said above,

במענה למכתבה - שנתקבל באיחור זמן רב - בו שואלת האם המענה שלי לפלוני, משנה כתבי אלי' במענה על שאלתה היא.
אין מענה אחד נוגע לחבירו, אפילו באם הי' תוכן השאלה מתאים במאה אחוז, שהרי הוא (המענה) תלוי באופן השאלה וסגנונה, תכונת נפש השואל וכו' שברוב הפעמים כל זה משפיע על המענה, וק"ל.
אף שאין מזכירה דבר על הבא לקמן, תקותי אשר מהתעוררות ימי חדש תשרי ועניניהם, מתחיל בקבלת עול מלכות שמים בראש השנה ומסי[י]ם בשמחת התורה (ומצותי') לקחה על כל ימות השנה הבע"ל שיהיו חדורים התעוררות האמורה, והרי כל עניני חדש תשרי, כללים הם, על מנת להשפיע על כל השנה, כמבואר בכמה ספרים, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
