I am writing in response to your letter of 29 Sivan, in which you request a blessing[1]. The assurance has been given to us[2] that effort is always crowned with success. You must therefore study, with enthusiasm and ardor, the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*, exerting what the Torah itself calls effort. Study then leads to action, to the observance of Mitzvot* in the best possible manner. This assurance will then be fulfilled, and your effort will indeed be crowned with success. This is the channel and the vessel through which one receives Hashem's blessing for one's needs. With my blessing, and may you give me good news of all of this,
You inform me of what happened to you concerning your Tefillin*[3]. You should therefore acquire a thorough knowledge of the practical laws of Tefillin*, excluding those pertaining to a scribe, and in the future you should also wear those of Rabbeinu Tam*.

במענה למכתבו מיום כ"ט סיון בקשת ברכה-פ"נ,
כיון שהובטחנו יגעת ומצאת, הנה ילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה נגלה וחסידות ועד לאופן שהתורה קוראה לזה יגיעה והלימוד יביא לידי מעשה קיום המצות בהידור. ואז תקוים ההבטחה - ומצאת. וה"ז הצנור והכלי לקבלת ברכות ה' בהמצטרך.

לכתבו ע"ד מה שקרהו בענין התפלין - יהי' בקי בהל' תפלין הצריכות לו (לא - לסופר וכיו"ב) ויניח מכאן ולהבא גם תפלין דר"ת.
