To the students (note 2: This term is used in the feminine.) of the vocational school of Kfar* Chabad*,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

I received your greetings, in their time, with great pleasure (note 3: See Likkutei Sichos*, volume 33, page 233.), through the intermediary of Mrs. Zlote Althuiz, who informed me of your success in your studies and even sent me beautiful objects that you crafted with your own hands. May Hashem bless each one of you and grant you success to advance, from one level to the next, in your studies and in your accomplishments.

We have just lived through the time of the giving of our Torah* and you surely know that the Holy One, blessed be He, when He wished to give the Torah* to His people, Yisrael*, asked that one address first the women and, only after that, the men (note 4: According to the Mechilta*, cited by the commentary of Rashi* on the verse Yisro* 19:3.). This means that, by the merit of the women, the men themselves received the Torah* and the Mitzvos*. Of course, this observation broadens all the more the responsibility that rests upon the women and daughters of Yisrael*. But, it goes without saying that with this responsibility, the strength and the possibilities to fully assume this mission were also granted. Everything depends only on determination, and the assurance has been given to us (note 5: In tractate Yoma* 38b.) that assistance comes to one who desires to purify himself. With my blessing for considerable success, as well as for giving me good news,

בעתו, ובעונג רב, קבלתי פ"ש מכן על ידי הגברת זלאטע תחי' אלטהויז, שכתבה לי על דבר הצלחתכן בלימודיכן, וגם שלחה לי מלאכת יד שלכן לתפארת.

והשם יתברך יברך כל אחת מכן ויצליח אתכן ללכת מחיל אל חיל בלימודיכן ומעשי ידיכן.

ובבואינו מזמן מתן תורתנו, בטח ידוע לכן שכשבא הקב"ה לתת תורה לעמו ישראל ציוה לפנות תחילה אל הנשים ואח"כ אל האנשים, זאת אומרת שבזכות הנשים זכו גם הגברים לקבל התורה והמצוות, שזה כמובן מגדיל האחריות המוטלת על נשי ובנות ישראל. אבל למותר להדגיש שביחד עם האחריות ניתנו גם הכוחות והאפשריות למלא את התפקיד במילואו ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצון, והובטחנו הבא לטהר מסייעין אותו.
