Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8979 — Faith & Bitachon

By the grace of Hashem,

21 Iyar* 5725,

I bless you and greet you,

I respond to your letter of 4 Iyar*. Our Sages* have informed us that "nothing can withstand Teshuvah*" (note 1: According to the Rambam*, in his Laws of Teshuvah*, at the end of chapter 3.), the definition of which is regret of the past and a good resolution for the future. They also specify (note 2: In Tractate* Shabbos* 13a.) that: "one says to the Nazir* (note 3: Who is not permitted to consume the fruit of the vine.): Go away, do not approach the perimeter of the vineyard" (note 4: One must therefore take precautions in order to be able to maintain one's commitment.). And, they established a daily prayer, in the morning blessings, which says: "Do not submit us to trial." This (note 5: Teshuvah*.) is, moreover, an Injunction of our holy Torah* and it is therefore certain that a person has the means to put it fully into practice. For, everything depends only on determination, as I also indicated in my previous correspondence.

May Hashem grant that the self-sacrifice and the dedication for the education of the children of Israel based on sacred values, an education that draws close the hearts of the children of Israel to our Father Who is in Heaven, protect each man and each woman among those who are in need of a blessing, in all the domains where it is necessary. Indeed, these days are favorable, since one approaches the festival of Shavuos*, the time of the giving of our Torah*. With my blessing to give me good tidings of all this, in trust in Hashem and in joy,

הודיעונו חכמנו ז"ל אין לך דבר העומד בפני התשובה, אשר הנקודה שלה חרטה על העבר וקבלה טובה על להבא והוסיפו בזה ובכגון זה, לך לך אמרינן לנזירא סחור סחור לכרמא לא תקרב, ובכל יום קבעו תפלה בברכת השחר, ואל תביאנו לידי נסיון וכו' שגם זה ציווי תורתנו הק' ובודאי שביכולת האדם לקיים זה במילואו, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצון, וכמובן גם כן ממכתבי הקודם.

ויהי רצון אשר המסירה ונתינה בחינוך בני ישראל על טהרת הקדש חינוך המקרב לבן של בני ישראל לאינו שבשמים תעמוד לכל אחד ואחת מהם הזקוקים לברכה בהמצטרך להם.

והרי הימים ימי סגולה, ימים שמתקרבים לחג השבועות זמן מתן תורתנו.
