To the great Rav*, Chassid* who fears Hashem, of

multiple accomplishments, Rav A. D.* (note 1: Rav A. D. Shalom, of Mexico.),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of the second day of Rosh Chodesh* Iyar*, which I received with delay. You describe therein the preparation for the publication of a collection of halachic* decisions and you conclude by asking me for an approbation (note 2: From the Rebbe* for this work.). You know, nevertheless, the custom of the house of our master (note 3: Of the masters of Chabad*. See, on this subject, letter no. 8257.), established by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, according to which one does not give approbations, for various reasons. Please excuse me for this.

Your letter has strengthened my hope that you endeavor to disseminate traditional Judaism in every place where your influence is exerted, including outside your community. Indeed, "you shall love your fellow as yourself" is a "great principle of the Torah*" (note 4: According to the Toras Kohanim*, cited by Rashi's* commentary on the verse Kedoshim 19:18.) and "all the children of Israel bear a collective responsibility" (note 5: According to Tractate* Shevuos* 39a.). Moreover, the assurance has been given to us that words emanating from the heart penetrate into the heart of the one who hears them and exert their effect therein. The merit of what is public comes to your aid.

I permit myself to add another point, which it seems to me I already addressed once with you. It concerns the imperative necessity of setting aside time for the study of the profound dimension of the Torah*, which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus*. To someone like you, it is surely unnecessary to explain this at length. Indeed, from time immemorial, our Sefardic brothers have been accustomed to a study of this part of the Torah*. במענה למכתבו מבדר"ח אייר - שהתקבל באיחור זמן -בו כותב אודות הכנה להו"ל ספר פסקי דינים וכו' ומסיים בקשר אם הסכמה.

וידועה הנהגת בית הרב, אשר נקבעה ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע שאין לתת הסכמה מפני כו"כ טעמים ואתו הסליחה.

נתחזקה תקותי ע"פ מכתבו, אשר משתדל בהפצת היהדות המסורתית בכל מקום שידו מגעת גם מחוץ לק"ק שלו, והרי ואהבת לרעך כמוך כלל גדול בתורה וכל בני ישראל ערבים זב"ז, והובטחנו מחז"ל דברים היוצאים מן הלב נכנסים אל לב השומע ופועלים פעולתם, וזכות הרבים מסייעת.

וארשה לי להוסיף עוד נקודה, אשר כמדומה כבר נגעתי בה פעם עם כת"ר שי' ע"ד גודל ההכרח לקבוע עתים גם בלימוד פנימיות התורה שבדורנו בתורת החסידות, ובואי לדווכתי' האריכות בזה אין בה צורך, שהרי אחב"י הספרדים מאז ומתמיד רגילים בלימוד חלק תורה זה.
