to the directors of the branch Achei Temimim*, in Rishon

LeTzion, may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received the two reports of 18 Nissan* (note 1: See Likkutei Sichos*, vol. 24, p. 498.). My response was delayed because I thought they would have a supplement, after receipt of my telegrams (note 2: This refers to letter no. 8968.), although they were sent before the receipt of these reports. However, I no longer wish to delay my response and I therefore refer to the content of these reports, which I take up in order:

To the first paragraph: The decision to have a single directorship (note 3: For the two Yeshivos*. See, on this subject, letter no. 8949.) seems judicious. It will therefore be the directorship of the Yeshivah* of Lod, to which representatives who previously belonged to the Yeshivah* of Rishon LeTzion will be added.

To the second paragraph: You also speak of a distinct representation toward the outside. In this matter, one must, of course, place the emphasis more on "toward the outside" than on "distinct." Likewise, the report stipulates that this concerns only financial collections.

Regarding the persons who will be able to serve as these representatives, as well as the executive director, it is for you to formulate proposals. We hereby endorse the candidates cited in this report, for the directorship of the Yeshivah*, namely Rav Yaakov Yosef Raskin and Rav Mendel Brook. The executive director will remain the one currently in place, Rav M. Goldberg.

We also endorse the fifth paragraph, according to which there is no reason, for the time being, to bring new persons into the directorship or the office of the Yeshivah*, for various reasons. Indeed, can one neglect the most obvious reason, the necessity of not multiplying expenses, of devoting all one's energy to multiplying the number of students, pursuing construction, planning and carrying out the collections for the Rishon LeTzion branch, mentioned above?

Regarding the appendix to the report, the pension of the widow, who shall have long days and good years, of the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem (note 4: Rav Chaim Shaul Brook. See, regarding him, letter no. 8949.), founder of this branch who directed it, with self-sacrifice, for several years, will be calculated in accordance with the custom in this matter, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, in particular within Chabad* institutions. Regarding the compensations due to such a person, we have no knowledge of all this here. Here again, one will have to adopt the custom in force in the Yeshivos*.

Concerning the position and the house to be assigned to the person you cite, it has already been specified above that the moment is not at all propitious for the recruitment of new persons. One may do so only within the framework that has been specified above, for example for financial collections. In this matter, it is advisable to take interest in men who have experience in this domain, who have already been entrusted with such responsibilities and who have assumed them successfully, as is the custom in force. Our masters and leaders, who also preside over all the branches of the Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim*, in every place and at all times, stand on high and they invoke the immense mercy of Hashem for these institutions, both quantitatively and qualitatively. They will therefore reveal the blessing and the success for the branch Achei Temimim* of Rishon LeTzion, within the framework of the central Yeshivah*, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt.

Happy is the lot of each man and each woman among the Chassidim*, located on the spot or in any other place, who will lend their help, in this matter, to the full extent of their means, with joy and enthusiasm, establishing closeness between people, as the Kuntres HaChaltzu* of the Rebbe Rashab* explains at length, with the addenda of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, both of whom being the founders and the directors of these Yeshivos*. All will thus be blessed with every good, in the manner of the Holy One, blessed be He, Who acts "measure for measure" (note 5: In the manner in which one acts toward Him. See, on this subject, the Pesikta Zutrasa on the verse Shemos* 3:6.), but in vastly increased proportions and they will derive much Chassidic* and true satisfaction from all their children, both sons and daughters, in accordance with the programs of the Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim* and the Beis Rivkah* schools. With my blessing of success in all that has just been said, as well as to give me good tidings,

מאשר אני קבלת שני הפרטי-כלים מח"י ניסן. ונתעכב המענה כיון שאמרתי שתהי' תוספת לאחרי קבלת המברקים שלי, אף שנשלחו קודם קבלת הפ"כים הנ"ל. ובאשר אין רצוני לעכב המענה עוד, כותב אני בקשר עם תוכן הפ"כלים, ועל הסדר:

לסעיף א'. נכונה ההחלטה שמוכרחת להיות הנהלה אחת, ז"א הנהלת ישיבת לוד, שבה יתוספו באי-כח מהנהלת ישיבת ראשון לציון בעבר.

לסעיף ב'. יצוג נפרד כלפי חוץ - ההדגשה בזה בתיבות "כלפי חוץ" ולא בתיבת "נפרד", כמובן. ומובן גם כן מנוסח הפרטי-כל שזהו אך ורק בנוגע למגביות כספים.

ובנוגע להאישים שיהיו הבאי כח האמורים, וכן המנהל בפועל, בזה עליהם להציע.

ומאשרים בזה המועמדים המוזכרים בפרטי כל האמור: בההנהלת הישיבה, והם הר"ר יעקב יוסף שי' רסקין והר"ר מנדל שי' ברוק. והמנהל פועל בהישיבה - כמו שהי' עד עתה הר"מ שי' גולדברג.

מאשרים גם כן סעיף החמישי , שאין לקחת לעת עתה אנשים חדשים להנהלת או למשרד הישיבה מפני כו"כ טעמים. ולאו מלתא זוטרתא הוא הטעם הכי פשוט - שלא להרבות בהוצאות, ולהקדיש כל המרץ להרבות מספר התלמידים, להמשיך בבני' וכולי ולתכנן ולהביא בפועל המגביות דסניף שבראשון לציון הנזכרות לעיל.

לתוכן הנספח לפרוטיכל הנ"ל, פנסי' לאלמנתו שתליט"א של הרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"נ מייסד סניף האמור ומנהלו במס"נ משך כמה שנים, ז"ל, - יהי' כפי הנהוג באה"ק ת"ו ובמוסדות חב"ד בפרט.

בנוגע לפיצויים המגיעים לפלוני, לא ידוע כאן כל הענין, ובודאי גם בזה יש נוהג קבוע בישיבות וכולי.

בנוגע למשרה ודירה עבור כולי - כתב כתוב לעיל שאין הזמן גרמא כלל לשכירת אנשים חדשים וכו'. ויש מקום לזה אך ורק בקשר עם הכתוב לעיל, בנוגע למגביות כספים וכיו"ב, ואז להתענין באנשים שהם מנוסים בשטחים האמורים, שכבר פעלו בזה והצליחו וכולי, כנוהג בכגון זה.

ורבותינו נישאינו, שהם גם נשיאי ישיבות תומכי-תמימים לסניפיהם בכל מקום ובכל זמן, ועומדים במרום ומעוררים רחמים רבים בעד הצלחת מוסדות אלו, הן בכמות והן באיכות, ימשיכו הברכה וההצלחה בסניף אחי תמימים אשר בראשון לציון בתוככי מסגרת ישיבה המרכזית אשר באה"ק ת"ו.

ואשרי חלקם של כל אחד ואחת מאנ"ש שיחיו על אתר ובכל מקום אשר יסייעו בזה ככל יכולתם, ומתוך שמחה וטוב לבב, ומתוך קירוב הלבבות, כמבואר בארוכה בקונטרס החלצו לכ"ק אדמו"ר (מוהרש"ב) וכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בהוספה שם, מיסדי ומנהלי ישיבות אלו, ויתברכו בכל טוב, ובמדתו של הקב"ה שהיא מדה כנגד מדה וכמה פעמים ככה - לרוות רב נחת חסידותי אמתי מכל יוצאי חלציהם שיחיו, הבנים והבנות גם יחד - מתאים לתכניות ישיבות תומכי תמימים ומוסדות בית רבקה.
