To the attention of Mr. Shalom Lewin* (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 8681.),

I greet you and bless you,

I have just received your telegram. I thank you very much for your wishes and for your blessings (note 2: On the occasion of the birthday of the Rebbe*, 11 Nissan*.). Whoever blesses is himself blessed, in the broadest manner. One must presume that the post fulfills its mission and that you have therefore received my previous correspondence, as well as the copy of my letter (note 3: Which was enclosed with that correspondence.), although you have not acknowledged receipt. Of course, that (note 4: The acknowledgment of receipt.) matters little, but I have, nevertheless, good hope that you have meditated upon the content of that correspondence, that you approve the progression of my thought and that this receives a concrete application, in the form of appropriate actions.

Indeed, such is also the content of the present period. For, when the evening of Pesach* begins, the Seder* will be celebrated, in all the homes of the children of Israel. Now, its objective is defined by various texts of the Written Torah* and the Oral Torah*. It is, in particular, expressed by the verse: "And you shall tell your son." Our Sages* specify that this does not concern only the wise child, but also those who belong to the other categories. To someone like you, it is surely unnecessary to say more.

On the occasion of the festival of Pesach*, time of our freedom, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, for good and for blessing, I extend, to you yourself and to all who follow you, my blessing that this festival be kosher and joyous, for a true liberation from all that poses an obstacle, morally and physically. Then, you will preserve this joy and this freedom in all the days of the year. With my respects and my blessing,

שלום וברכה!

זה עתה נתקבל המברק שלו, ותשואות חן על איחוליו וברכותיו, וכל המברך מתברך כהנה וכהנה.

כיון שחזקה שהדואר עושה שליחותו, הרי בטח קבל מכתבי הקודם, והעתק מכתבי, אף שלא אישר הקבלה. ולא נוגע האישור כמובן, אלא תקותי שהתבונן בתוכן המכתב וגם תקותי שמסכים למהלך המחשבה שלי, ובמילא גם מתבטא בפעולות מתאימות.

ואת"ל זהו גם כן מתוכן ימים אלו, שבליל התקדש חג הפסח מתחילים בכל בתי בני ישראל עם הסדר, שכוונתו כמו שמודגש בתורה שבכתב ושבעל פה ובכ"מ הוא והגדת לבנך, וכביאור חכמינו ז"ל המכוון הוא לאו דוקא לבן חכם אלא גם לשאר הסוגים, והאריכות לכ' אך למותר.

ולקראת חג הפסח, זמן חירותנו, הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני שולח לכ' ולכל הנלוים אליו ברכת חג הפסח כשר ושמח, וחירות אמתית מכל ענינים המבלבלים מנפש ועד בשר, ולהמשיך משמחה וחירות זו בכל השנה.
