To the attention of the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears

Hashem, elected by the people, who surpasses them, seeks the good

of his people, has generous ways, is of an illustrious family,

Rav* Shneur Zalman (note 1: S. Z. Shazar, President of Eretz Yisrael*. See, regarding him, letter no. 8682.) Shlita*,

I greet you and bless you,

The Hilulah* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, is approaching and if, in general, you often think of Kfar Chabad*, there is no doubt that this date must even more clearly evoke its memory in your mind. This is therefore the occasion for me to express to you once again my fervent hope — even though I do not know what must be accomplished for this — that the necessary efforts will finally be made to enable the Kfar* to house a good number of the friends and brethren of those who currently reside there, as well as of those who previously shared their misfortune (note 2: Due to the persecutions in Soviet Russia.). All of them will join them very soon and in our days. They will settle with them in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, "the land toward which the eyes of Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year," toward which are also turned the eyes of our brethren, the children of Yisrael*, who find themselves in distress and oppression.

I am not sure that I would have written to you once again about all this, especially since you are one of the founders of Kfar Chabad*, were it not that all this is advancing so slowly, with complications, beyond what is usual. In this matter, if there were truly a need to prove that this project belongs to the domain of holiness, one could have accepted these embarrassments and difficulties, at least in part. Nevertheless, the holiness of this accomplishment is beyond doubt. Moreover, Kfar Chabad* is the channel for the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 3: Of Chassidus*, outward.). Furthermore, all these complications and concealments have already been fully discharged, in all their aspects.

May Hashem therefore grant that, very soon, Kfar Chabad* expand and broaden, including in the literal sense, onto other plots of land that will be ever larger. Immediately afterward, institutions of Chabad* will be built on these lands as well, which will fill with immigrants from the country in which we previously found ourselves (note 4: Soviet Russia.), who will come with their sons, their daughters, all their own, in goodness and mercy. They will maintain the Chabad* tradition, the way of life conforming to the teachings of Chabad*, based on the three loves — love of Hashem, love of the Torah*, love of one's fellow — in Eretz Yisrael*. With my respects, my esteem, and my blessing,

You have surely received my letter of Rosh Chodesh* Shevat*. In fact, my previous correspondence also dealt with the passage from narrowness to expansiveness. What has just come back from the bindery is timely, in these days (note 5: Close to the Hilulah* of the Previous Rebbe*.). It is the second volume of the memoirs (note 6: Of the Previous Rebbe*.), in Yiddish*. It has been sent to you, under separate cover.

יום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ממשמש ובא. ואם כפר חב"ד עולה בזכרונינו תכופות בכלל, בודאי שיום זה הבע"ל מעורר ומעלה זכרון הכפר ביתר תוקף.

וכאן מקום אתי להביע עוה"פ תקותי החזקה - אף שאיני יודע מה צריך להיעשות בזה - שסוף סוף ייעשו המאמצים הדרושים שיאפשרו לכפר חב"ד להוות מקום מקלט למספר הגון של ידידיהם ואחיהם של תושבי הכפר, ואחיהם לצרה בעבר - יהיו ב"ב עמהם וחבריהם להתיישבות באה"ק ת"ו, ארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, אשר גם עיניהם של אחב"י הנתונים בצרה ושבי' נשואות אלי'.

מסופקני אם הייתי כותב לכ' עוד הפעם בענין זה, בפרט שכ' הי' ממיסדי כפר חב"ד. אלא שהענין הולך בכבדות ובתסבוכת שלא על דרך הרגיל. ובענין הזה אם הי' צורך גדול בהוכחה שהוא ענין שבקדושה אפשר שהי' מקום לתסבוכת וקושיים (אבל לא כאלו), אבל פשוט הדבר שהענין קדוש הוא כשלעצמו, נוסף על העיקר שכפר חב"ד הוא הצנור להפצת המעיינות. ועוד שהרי כבר יצאו ידי חובת כל הצדדים בקושיים והסתרים.

ויהי רצון אשר בקרוב ממש יתרחב ויתפשט כפר חב"ד גם כפשוטו, בשטחי אדמה נוספים הלוך ומוסיף, ובזמן קרוב לאחרי זה ייבנו גם שטחים אלו במוסדות חב"ד ויתמלאו בעולים חדשים ממדינתנו לפנים, אשר יעלו משם הם ובניהם ובנותיהם וכל אשר להם בחסד וברחמים, וימשיכו במסורת חב"ד ובדרך חיים על פי תורת חב"ד, מיוסדת על שלשת האהבות, אהבת ה' אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל, בארץ ישראל.

בודאי נתקבל מכתבי מראש חודש שבט, והרי גם מכתבי הקודם פרק בעלי' ממיצר אל המרחב.

זה עתה הביאו מבית הכורך דבר בעתו מעניני ימים אלו והוא חלק שני של ספר הזכרונות (אידיש), ונשלח לכ' בפ"ע.
