Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8916 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

Eve of Chanukah* 5725,

Brooklyn, New York,

To the young women of Chabad*, the group of Yerushalayim*,

may it be restored and rebuilt,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

It is surely unnecessary to remind you of the story of the days of Chanukah* (note 1: See Likkutei Sichos*, vol. 15, p. 542.), which are approaching and, in particular, the clarification of our Sages* (note 2: In Tractate* Shabbos* 23a.) according to which: "the women took part in the miracle." Moreover, they had a decisive role in the miracles and deliverances "in those days, at this time."

Now, these days are "commemorated and relived," at this time, and they must therefore awaken the will, the decision to follow in the footsteps of these women, by disseminating the light of the Torah* and the candle of the Mitzvah*, by advancing, adding, and illuminating, as the lights of Chanukah* demonstrate. May Hashem grant that the motivation of these days illuminate and permeate all the days of the year. With my blessing of success and to give me good tidings,

ברכה ושלום!

בודאי אין צורך להסביר להן על דבר פרשת ימי החנוכה הממשמשים ובאים, ובפרט מה שסיפרו חכמינו זכרונם לברכה שגם הנשים היו באותו הנס, ולא עוד אלא שהי' להן חלק חשוב בהנסים והתשועות שבימים ההם בזמן הזה. והרי זכרון הימים ההם הנזכרים ונעשים בזמן הזה צריך לעורר את הרצון וההחלטה ללכת בעקבות הנשים ההן להפיץ אור תורה ונר מצוה ובאופן שמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור, כהוראת נר חנוכה. ויהי רצון שהתעוררות הימים האלה תאיר ותחדיר את פעולותיהן בכל ימי השנה.

בברכה להצלחה ולבשורות טובות,
