Rosh Chodesh* Mar Cheshvan* (note 1: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "One will note that, according to the opinion of the Taz*, based on the edition in our possession, it is precisely the first day of Rosh Chodesh* Mar Cheshvan* that is mentioned in the Shulchan Aruch*, Orach Chaim*, chapter 428, which is not the case for the other months, as indicated by the Pri Chadash*." I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter (note 2: This letter was addressed to several people. See, regarding this, Likkutei Sichos*, vol. 24, p. 542.). We are on the day that unifies the seventh month, satiated with all the good (note 3: That of Tishrei*. The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "According to Midrash* Vayikra Rabbah*, chapter 29, paragraph 8.") and that of Mar Cheshvan*, the month of rains (note 4: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "See the Aruch*, in the article 'Mar-Cheshvan,' the commentary of the Radak* on the verse Melachim* I, 6:38. One should also consult the commentary of Rashi* on Tractate* Taanis* 4b, the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe*, chapter 117, at the end of paragraph 1, which specifies: 'It is so in these lands.'") that fall for the blessing, for life, and for satiation. The rains, in the manner in which they flow, as well as how they fall here below, are the beginning, the head, the source (note 5: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "The Sifri* on the verse Devarim* 11:14 says: 'I will give rain: this is the blessing that includes within it all blessings at once.' One should also see, notably, the verses Vayikra* 26:3-4, with the commentary of the Ramban*, as well as the verse Devarim* 28:2, Midrash* Devarim Rabbah*, chapter 7, paragraph 5, and Tractate* Taanis* 7b.") of all the blessings.

During this seventh month, every Jewish man and every Jewish woman, among all of Yisrael*, was inscribed and sealed for a good year. May Hashem grant that this be revealed in this world, through a good that is visible and tangible, in all the needs of each man and each woman, materially and spiritually (note 6: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "See Likkutei Torah*, beginning of the Chassidic* discourse entitled: 'On the eighth day, he sent,' Parshas* Devarim*, p. 86c and p. 96a."). The festivals of the seventh month conclude with the time of our joy (note 7: The festival of Sukkos*.), with a double joy (note 8: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "One should consult Likkutei Torah*, Devarim*, p. 88d."), the joy of the One Who gives — Hashem, Who is the source of all blessings — and the joy of the one who receives — His people (note 9: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "One should see Likkutei Torah*, at the same reference, p. 87c."), the children of Yisrael*. אשר הגשמים וירידתם הם תחלה ראש ומקור לכל הברכות וירידתם והמשכתם למטה,

יהי רצון אשר הכתיבה וחתימה טובה של כל אחד ואחת מבני ישראל, בתוככי כללות ישראל, שהייתה בחדש השביעי תומשך למטה בטוב הנראה ונגלה לנו, בהמצטרך לכל אחד ואחת בגשמיות וברוחניות.

וכחותם המועדים של חדש השביעי, זמן שמחתנו -

מתוך שמחה כפולה, שמחת הנותן, הוא השי"ת מקור הברכות, ושמחת

המקבל - עמו בני ישראל.
