To the attention of the great Rav*, distinguished and agreeable Chassid*

who fears Hashem, of good conduct and

multiple accomplishments, filled with eagerness,

Rav* Yisrael Shlita*, who is called Doctor Brody,

Chief Rabbi of the British lands,

I greet you and bless you,

I received, with pleasure, your greetings through the intermediary of the Rabbanim* who made this trip, distinguished and agreeable Chassidim* who fear Hashem and devote themselves to communal needs, Rav* Ben Tzion Shem Tov and Rav* Yonah Eidelkopf Shlita*. On this occasion, I have the pleasant duty of expressing to you the satisfaction that I felt upon hearing the details of the actions that you have carried out for the men of Chabad* who, in your city, spread, with self-sacrifice, Yiddishkeit* and education based on sacred values. Thus, "as the face is reflected in water" and "measure for measure," Hashem will confer upon you success and blessing in all your needs.

Given the tense situation that Yiddishkeit* faces in the world, in general, and in certain countries, in particular, I permit myself to express the hope that you will not take into account the prevailing custom and that you will retain your position for several more years. Indeed, the period demands effort and not withdrawal. And the merit of the public comes to your aid so that you succeed in fully strengthening the state of religion and the tradition of our forefathers, without compromise, Heaven forbid. For a compromise is always a deviation from the truth, from our Torah*, Torah* of truth, which was given by the Elokim* of Truth. May Hashem grant that you act and know success, in good health, in joy and enthusiasm.

On the occasion of the new year, which arrives, for us and for all of Yisrael*, for good and for blessing, I hereby address my blessing to you yourself and to all your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. With my respects and my blessing,

ובהזדמנות זו חובתי נעימה להביע קורת רוח מיוחדת בשמעי בפרוטרוט על דבר פעולות כת"ר לעזר אנשי חב"ד אשר במחנו הט' בעבודתם המסורה להפצת היהדות והחנוך על טהרת הקדש. וכמים הפנים לפנים ובמדה כנגד מדה יברכהו ה' ויצליחו בכל המצטרך.

וארשה לעצמי להביע תקותי אשר בהתחשב עם המצב המתוח ביהדות העולם בכלל, ובמדינות מסוימות בפרט, לא יתחשב עם הנוהג וישאר על כהונתו עוד משך שנים, כי עת דרישה היא ולא עת פרישה, והרי זכות הרבים מסייעתו להצליח לחזק בדק הדת ומסורת אבות בשלמותה מבלי פשרות ח"ו, שהרי כל פשרה נוטה מן האמת, תורתנו תורת אמת הנתונה מה' אלקים אמת. ויהי רצון שיעשה ויצליח מתוך בריאות הנכונה ובשמחה ובטוב לבב.

ולקראת השנה החדשה, הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לכת"ר ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
