To the attention of Mr. David Ben Naim,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received the book of responsa* Rachamim Peshutim* (note 1: "Infinite Mercy.") and the fascicle Derush Eretz Yisrael* (note 2: Commentary on the Holy Land.) whose author is your father, Rav* Raphael Chaim Moshe Ben Naim, may he rest in peace. I thank you for having thought to send them to me. Subsequently, I received these works also through Mr. Shmuel Hassan. And, knowing that such is your wish, as well as for the elevation of the soul of your father, the author, may it be bound in the bond of life, I have transmitted the duplicates to the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch*, so that the students may consult them when they see fit. It goes without saying that, if these works are out of print, it would be good and wise for you yourself and all the children of your father to reprint them, both for the merit of your father and in the general interest.

Based on the formulation of your letter, I have good hope that you are doing what is in your power to spread Yiddishkeit* in the place where you currently find yourself. Moreover, our Sages* say, in their Mishnah* (note 3: In Tractate* Eduyos*, chapter 2, Mishnah* 9.), that: "the father confers a merit upon his children" and the assurance has been given to us (note 4: In Tractate* Yoma* 38b.), on this subject, that: "one comes to the aid of the one who desires to purify himself."

In fact, we are approaching the favorable days of the month of Elul*. Hashem is then like a King Who, before His arrival in the city, is welcomed by the townspeople. They come to greet Him, in the field, and He Himself receives each one there with benevolence, as is explained in Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Re'eh*, p. 32b, whose author is the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*. הנני לאשר בזה קבלת ספר שו"ת רחמים פשוטים וקונטרס דרוש ארץ ישראל שחיברם אביו הרה"ח וכו' ר' רפאל חיים משה ן' נאים ז"ל. ותשואות חן לכ' בעד שימת לבבו לשלחם אלי.

מאוחר יותר נתקבלו הספרים הנ"ל גם על ידי מר שמואל שי' חסאן. ובראותי שרצונו בכך, וגם שיהי' לעילוי נשמת אביו המחבר תנצב"ה, מסרתי את הכפולים לישיבת תומכי תמימים ליובאוויטש, בכדי שהתלמידים יוכלו לעיין בהם בכל עת מצוא.

בטח למותר לעורר את כ' שאם הספרים אזלו מן השוק כדאי ונכון שכ' ושאר בני אביו ידפיסום עוה"פ לזכות אביו ולתועלת הרבים.

על פי סגנון מכתבו, התקוה שעושה כל התלוי בו להפצת היהדות במקומו עתה, בפרט על פי מה שאמרו חכמינו ז"ל במשנתם שהאב זוכה לבניו וכולי, והובטחנו בכגון זה הבא לטהר מסייעין אותו.

ובפרט שמתקרבים אנו לימי הסגולה דחודש אלול, שאז הוא בדוגמת מלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שירצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות כו' כמבואר בלקוטי תורה, פ' ראה, לב, ב לרבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשולחן ערוך.
