By the grace of Hashem,
11 Menachem* Av* 5724,
Brooklyn,
I greet you and bless you,
You ask me in what manner one works for the community (note 1: See He'hal Menachem, vol. 1, p. 109.). Now, one knows, regarding this, the teaching according to which: "I will drive it out (note 2: The evil.) little by little." One must therefore advance from one level to the next, with firm determination. It is in this manner that the result obtained is lasting. This is self-evident.
You also mention your success in the study of the revealed part of the Torah* and of Chassidus* (note 3: How to achieve it?). Our Sages* give the assurance (note 4: In Tractate* Megillah* 6b.) that: "if you make the effort, it will be crowned with success." You will therefore study with enthusiasm and fervor (note 5: The recipient of this letter is presumably a Yeshivah* student.), so that the Torah* attests that it is indeed an effort. In this way, this promise will be fulfilled and the effort will be crowned with success.

ולכתבו אודות הצלחתו בלימוד בנגלה וחסידות - כיון שהבטיחונו חכמינו ז"ל יגעת ומצאת, הנה ילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה ועד לאופן שהתורה קוראה זה יגיעה - ותקוים ההבטחה ומצאת.
