To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, of multiple

accomplishments, the Rav* Shlomo Yehudah Leib Adler,

president of the Shochtim* association of Tel Aviv,

I greet you and bless you,

I received, in its time, your letter of 1 Tammuz* and I waited, before responding to you, to meet the great Rav*, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem, of good conduct and multiple accomplishments, the Rav* Y. Y. Unterman, the Chief Rabbi. The media and also your letter, as well as the impression I draw from this discussion, seem to indicate that the situation you describe is evolving, from day to day, through the intervention of various elements as well as for diverse and varied reasons.

May Hashem therefore grant that the merit of what is public come to the aid so that all of this be arranged in the way that will truly be the best. One knows, indeed, the importance of Kashrus* and the great prudence with which one must act, in this matter, in every place and at all times, but especially in our era and in the Holy Land, toward which the eyes of Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. With my respects and my blessing to give me good news of all of this,

בעתו קבלתי מכתבו מא' בתמוז, וחכיתי עם המענה שלי עד לאחרי הפגישה עם הרה"ג והרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"מ בעל מדות ורב פעלים הרא"י שליט"א אונטרמן רב הראשי.

וכנראה מקטעי מכתבי העתים וגם ממכתב כ' וכן מרושם השיחה האמורה, המצב בהענין עליו כותב הולך ומשתנה מיום ליום, מצד כמה גורמים שמתערבים בזה ומטעמים שונים ומשונים.

ויהי רצון שזכות הרבים יסייע שכל הענין יסתדר באופן הכי טוב באמת, וידוע גודל ענין הכשרות וגודל הזהירות שצריך להיות בזה, בכל מקום ובכל זמן, ובפרט בתקופתנו ובארץ הקדש, ארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה.
