distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem,

the Rav* Y. Y. (note 1: The Rav Isser Yehudah Unterman. See, regarding him, letter no. 8847) Shlita*, Chief Rabbi (note 2: Ashkenazi of Eretz Yisrael*),

I greet you and bless you,

I reproduce here the text of the telegram that the Rebbe* Shlita* was pleased to address to you. You undoubtedly received it at the time:

"On the occasion of your return to the Holy Land, I express to you my wishes for a good voyage, in success. In good health, you will make full use of the possibilities that exist to strengthen true Judaism, to strengthen and disseminate the Torah* and its Mitzvos*. Indeed, it is a Torah* of truth and truth excludes every compromise (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 8694). One can observe clearly, in our era, to what extent the conception advocating leniencies has failed. On the contrary, our Sages say (note 4: See the preceding letter) that, when one finds a breach, the repair consists of erecting a fence (note 5: At the place of the breach). He delivers us this teaching three times, applying it, in order, to the dispositions of the Sages, to the rational Mitzvos* and to the irrational Decrees. You will therefore accomplish all of this, for long days and good years, in a ceaselessly increasing manner. In this way, the merit of the Holy Land will come to your aid, may it be restored and rebuilt, very soon and in our days, by our righteous Moshiach*. לרגל חזרתם לארץ הקודש אביע איחולי לנסיעה כשורה ובהצלחה ואשר מתוך בריאות הנכונה ינצל כהדר"ג במילואן כל האפשריות שישנן לחזק בדק היהדות האמיתית לבסס ולהפיץ התורה ומצותי' שהיא תורת אמת והרי אמת שוללת כל פשרה ונראה במוחש בדורנו ששיטת הפשרות פשטה את הרגל וכו' ואדרבה הורו חכמינו ז"ל דבמקום שבקעה מצא הנה התיקון הוא לגדור בה גדר והורינו שלש פעמים ועל הסדר בענינים דרבנן וגם במצות שכליות וגם בחוקים ויעשה כהדר"ג בהאמור לאורך ימים ושנים טובות ובאופן דמוסיף ואור וזכות ארץ הקודש תבנה ותכונן במהרה בימינו על ידי משיח צדקנו מסייעתו.
