Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8863 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

26 Tammuz* 5724,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 21 Tammuz* (note 1: See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 23, at page 374). We have just lived through the days of the deliverance, 12 and 13 Tammuz*, dates of the liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of Yisrael*, which is also our own deliverance. You surely have knowledge of the self-sacrificing work accomplished by the one whose joy and deliverance we celebrate, his holy mission of disseminating the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*, in a ceaselessly increasing manner.

I hope that you will deduce from the history of these days a teaching in conformity with the principle according to which: "the deed is essential" (note 2: According to tractate Avos*, chapter 1, at Mishnah* 17), that you will redouble enthusiasm and ardor in the study of the Torah*, of its revealed part and of Chassidus*. Of course, this study must lead to action, as our Sages emphasize (note 3: In tractate Kiddushin* 40b), that is to say to the practice of the Mitzvos* in the best way. And, the assurance has been given to us that "one comes to the aid of the one who desires to purify himself" (note 4: In tractate Yoma* 38b). You surely have knowledge of the three daily studies that concern each person, bearing on the Chumash*, the Tehillim* and the Tanya*. You observe them or, at least, you will do so in the future. With my blessing to give me good news of all of this,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום כ"א תמוז.

ובבואנו מימי הגאולה י"ב-י"ג תמוז גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל שהיא גם גאולתנו.

שבודאי ידוע לו אודות העבודה במסירת נפש של בעל השמחה והגאולה עבודה קדושה בהפצת התורה הנגלה והחסידות ובאופן דמוסיף והולך.

התקוה אשר ילמוד מפרשת ימים אלו לקח המתאים והמעשה עיקר - להוסיף בהתמדה ושקידה בלימוד התורה לימוד הנגלה ולימוד החסידות ומובן שצריך להיות - כהוראת חז"ל - באופן שהלימוד יביא לידי מעשה הידור בקיום המצות והובטחנו הבא לטהר מסייעין לו.

בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש בחומש תהלים ותניא ושומר עליהם ועכ"פ יעשה כן מכאן ולהבא.
