By the grace of Hashem,

28 Sivan* 5724,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 26 Sivan*, in which you ask me about your nephew who wishes to continue his studies, for several years, at the Yeshivah*. You ask me whether he will then be able to join a religious kibbutz. Nevertheless, this question will only arise after he has spent a certain time at the Yeshivah*, devoting himself to the study of our holy Torah*, Torah* of life. According to the words of the Admur HaZaken*, in his holy Tanya*, the Torah* is defined as the bread and the nourishment of the soul. By studying it in the proper manner, one unifies it with the soul of the one who devotes himself to this activity, to the point of forming a single and same entity. Henceforth, it truly becomes the nourishment of this soul, vivified by the Life of life, by the Ein Sof*, blessed be He, as chapter 5 of the Tanya* explains.

Consequently, there is no reason, in my opinion, to decide right now what he will do at the conclusion of this study. One can hope that he will know elevation through it. He will therefore decide in light of the situation that will then be his. I have good hope that you yourself have knowledge of the events of 12 and 13 Tammuz*, dates of the liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of our generation. May Hashem therefore grant that each person motivate himself for the Torah*, for the Mitzvos*, for the dissemination of Judaism and of what concerns it, among those who are near and those who are far, in joy and enthusiasm. במענה למכתבו מכ"ו סיון, בו שואל ע"ד בן אחיו שי' הרוצה ללמוד שנים אחדות בישיבה, והשאלה אם יכנס אחרי כן בקבוץ דתי וכו'.

ולדעתי כיון שהענין נוגע לאחרי שילמוד משך זמן בישיבה, לימוד תורתנו הק' תורת חיים, אשר כדברי רבנו הזקן בספר תניא קדישא שלו, שהתורה נקראת בשם לחם ומזון הנפש, וע"י הלימוד כדבעי, מתאחדת עם נפש הלומד והיו לאחדים, ונעשה מזון לנפש וחיים בקרבה מחיי החיים אין סוף ברוך הוא וכו' (תניא פרק ה'),

הרי עפי"ז אין כדאי להחליט עתה מה שיעשה לאחרי לימוד האמור, שהרי התקוה ע"פ האמור שיתעלה ע"י לימוד זה, ויחליט בהתאם למצבו אז.

התקוה חזקה אשר ידוע לכ' פרשת ימי י"ב וי"ג תמוז גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא דורנו.

ויהי רצון שיתעורר ויוסיף כאו"א בעניני תורה ומצות ובהפצת היהדות ועניני' לקרוב ולרחוק ומתוך שמחה וטוב לבב.
