Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* Lubavitch of Newark,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

One can observe that your dinner takes place in the month of the giving of the Torah* (note 1: See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 8, at page 262), a few days before the festival celebrating its reception. Without doubt, each and every one will therefore give a concrete expression to the moral elevation inherent in this festival and to the practical teachings that should be applied, in particular in relation to this annual celebration. It is necessary, in this instance, to remark that, according to the Torah*, the festival of Shavuos* has no specific date, neither in the month nor in the days, as is the case for the other festivals (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 74). In fact, it is celebrated on the fiftieth day of the Omer*, which one begins to count on the second day of Pesach*, the day after the exodus from Mitzrayim*.

In this way, our holy Torah* underscores that Shavuos* is the culmination of the festival of Pesach*. The "time of the giving of our Torah*" (note 3: The Rebbe* underlines the words: "time of the giving of our Torah*," "time of our freedom," "reception of the Torah*" and "Torah* of truth") brings perfection to the "time of our freedom" (note 3), such that true deliverance, both individually and collectively, materially and spiritually, can only be obtained through the reception of the Torah* (note 3). We live in an era and in a country where, despite the ambient "freedom," all, in general and the young, in particular, undergo a bitter "servitude," not knowing how to free themselves from the chains of moral bondage. The sole hope, for these young people not to be swept away by the current, is education faithful to the Torah* that is dispensed within the framework of the Yeshivah*. It is there that the golden chain of the Torah* that was revealed on Mount Sinai is preserved, the holy Torah*, Torah* of truth (note 3), which is always the same, without compromise and without accommodations.

The Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* Lubavitch of Newark is an important Torah* institution, which fully merits the support that will be granted to it. It is, for each and every one, an important objective and an immense merit to come to its aid. I therefore greet all the participants at this annual celebration. I address to each and every one of the donors and friends of the Yeshivah* a warm blessing. May Hashem grant them success in the accomplishments of the Yeshivah*, as well as in their personal concerns, in all their needs, material and spiritual.
