To the great Rav*, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears

Hashem, devotes himself to communal needs, has

good conduct, the Rav Menachem Ben Tzion (note 1: The Rav M. B. T. Zaks, of Chicago. See, regarding him, letter no. 8631),

I greet you and bless you,

One introduces one's words with a blessing and in expressing gratitude. Your letter indicates that your state of health has improved. May Hashem therefore cause that you have a complete and prompt recovery. In conformity with your request, I will mention your name once more near the resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*. The merit of your actions destined to strengthen the Torah* and to disseminate it will protect you, so that the wish of your heart be fulfilled in a positive manner.

Of course, it is painful to note to what extent the rescue fund has declined, whereas the needs and the demands are ever broader. Without doubt, a communal leader like you does not need to be given advice on the means of filling the gap with other resources. Indeed, to those who are in need, it matters little to know what is the origin of the aid that is brought to them.

Regarding Pesach Sheini* and to pass from one idea to another while remaining in the same context, one knows the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* (note 2: See the two preceding letters), according to which the teaching of this festival is the following: for a Jew, "nothing is ever lost." On the contrary, the second opportunity is, very often, stronger than the first, in its specific aspects. This is what one can deduce from the fact that, for the second Pesach*, it was not necessary to destroy the Chametz* beforehand. פותחין בברכה ותודה שרואני ממכתבו שהוטב מצב בריאותו, ויהי רצון מהשי"ת שתהי' רפואתו שלמה וגם קרובה. כבקשתו עוד הפעם אזכירו על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, וזכות פעולותיו להחזקת והרבצת התורה תעמוד לו למילוי משאלות לבבו לטובה.

מובן שצער גדול הוא שתמיכת קרן הצלה נידלדלה כל כך, בה בשעה שהצורך והדרישה מתגדלים הלוך וגדול. ובודאי עסקן ציבורי כמוהו לא נצרך לעצה איך יוכל למלאות החסר ממקורות אחרים, והרי כלפי הנצרכים לא נוגע מאיזה קופות באה עזרתם.

ובהזדמנות זו דפסח שני, ומענין לענין באותו ענין, ידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שהמוסר השכל דפסח שני הוא שאצל יהודי "איז קיינמאל ניט פארפאלן", ואדרבה פעמים שהזדמנות השני' עדיפה מהראשונה בנוגע לפרטים, וכמרומז גם בענין דפסח שני שלא הי' נצרך לביעור חמץ תחילה וכו'.
