Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8808 — Faith & Bitachon
Volume 23 · Letter 132
By the grace of Hashem,
30 Nissan* 5724,
1st day of Rosh Chodesh* Iyar* 5724,
Brooklyn, New York,
I greet you and bless you,
I have duly received your letter (note 1: This letter was addressed to several persons. See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 7, at page 303). This 30th of Nissan*, first day of Rosh Chodesh* Iyar*, marks the unity (note 2: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the Shulchan Aruch*, Even HaEzer*, chapter 126, paragraph 6 and its commentaries") between, on one hand, the month of liberation (note 3: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Midrash* Shemos Rabbah*, chapter 15, paragraph 11"), that of the body and the soul at once, from Egypt*, "abomination of the earth," on the other hand that of Iyar*, month of radiance (note 4: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Melachim* I, 6:1") which illuminates the earth, thus bearing the name of the Patriarchs*, "those who brought radiance to the world" (note 5: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Tractate Rosh HaShanah* 11a"). May therefore Hashem cause that we soon obtain true peace, the unification between spirituality and materiality, first of all those of the "small world" (note 6: According to the explanation of the Midrash* Tanchuma*, Parshas Pekudei*, at chapter 3), of man, of his body and his soul, then those of the world in the literal sense.
As our Sages state (note 7: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Tractate Sanhedrin* 99b"), "one who studies the Torah* for its own name establishes peace between the heavenly and earthly houses of study" and one finds, on this matter, a lengthy explanation (note 8: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Likkutei Torah*, Parshas Mattos, from page 86b") of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya*, belonging to the profound teaching of the Torah*, to its soul, author also of the Shulchan Aruch*, its revealed part, its body (note 9: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Zohar*, volume 3, page 152a"). Such is also the meaning of the Parshah* that we have just read, as our Sages underline (note 10: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Sifra*, Shemini* 9:6"), at the beginning thereof: "Moshe* said to Yisrael*: Just as (note 11: The Rebbe* underlines the expression: "just as") Hashem is unique in the world, your service will also be specific before Him." One will consult this text. With my blessing of success in your sacred mission,
M. Schneerson,
