By the grace of Hashem,

Eve of the holy Shabbos* Parshas (note 1: Parshas Shemini*)

"And, it was the eighth day" 5724,

which blesses the month of radiance (note 2: The month of Iyar*),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter (note 3: This letter was addressed to several persons. See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 7, at page 297). Our Sages teach, in the Sifra* (note 4: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Shemini* 9:6") Bereishis*, in the Parshah* of this week: "'And, Moshe* said': Moshe* then indicated to Yisrael*: Just as (note 5: The Rebbe* underlines the expression: "just as") the Holy One, blessed be He, is unique in His world, your service will also be particular before Him. You have acted in this way and the honor of Hashem will therefore be revealed to you."

The Baal Shem Tov* states, on this matter, the following explanation (note 6: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Sefer Tzavaas HaRivash*, at page 84 of the Kehot edition"): "This is a great principle that is stated thus (note 7: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "One will consult tractate Shabbos* 68a"): a man must always have the sole thought of serving Hashem. He will tell himself that every thing existing in the world is filled (note 8: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Tractate Berachos* 10a. One will see the Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah*, at the end of chapter 7") with the Creator, blessed be He. He will attach himself to His honor, with a perfect love (note 9: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the Sifri*, Vaeschanan* 6:5"). His thought will always be connected to Him. Such is the allusive meaning of the verse: 'He shall not go out from the Sanctuary*'" (note 10: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See tractate Sanhedrin* 19a"). Thus, when one speaks of what concerns this world, one will be like a man who leaves his house and goes outside, with the intention of returning immediately. During this outing, indeed, this man will wonder when he will finally find his home again (note 11: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "One will consult the following words of the Baal Shem Tov*: 'In every place where the will of man is found, it is as if he stood entirely there,' according to the Chassidic* discourse of Zos Chanukah* 5640, at chapter 3. But, this is not a mere thought, as indicated by the context of the Tzavaas HaRivash*"), his essential dwelling, that of the Creator, blessed be He.

May Hashem cause that each one put into practice what has just been said, with a true joy, as it happened then, "the eighth day," when "the people saw and rejoiced" (note 12: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "According to the Targum Onkelos*, 'they praised' and the Sifra*, at this reference, specifies: 'They opened their mouth and pronounced a Song'") at the fulfillment of this promise, for "you have acted thus and the honor of Hashem will be revealed to you." וע"פ מאמר רז"ל בספרא בראשית פרשת שבוע זה: ויאמר משה - אמר להם משה לישראל... כשם שהוא (הקב"ה) יחיד בעולמו כך תהא עבודתכם מיוחדת לפניו... עשיתם כן וירא אליכם כבוד ה'.

וידוע פירוש הבעש"ט בזה: זה הכלל גדול שיהי' לאדם תמיד רק מחשבה אחת בעבודת הבורא ית'... ויחשוב שכל דבר שיש בעולם הכל מלא מהבורא ית'... וידבק עצמו בכבודו ית' מאהבה גמורה... ותמיד יהי' מחשבתו דבוקה... וזהו פירוש הפסוק ברמז, ומן המקדש לא יצא, וכשצריך לדבר מעניני עולם הזה יהי'... כמו האדם שהולך מביתו לחוץ ודעתו לחזור תיכף, ובעת ההליכה חושב מתי יחזור לביתו... ביתו העיקרי הבורא ית'.

יהי רצון שיקיים כאו"א את כל האמור לעיל מתוך שמחה אמיתית, כמו שהי' ביום השמיני אז.

וירא כל העם וירונו, מילוי ההבטחה הנ"ל, עשיתם כן וירא אליכם כבוד ה'.
