By the grace of Hashem,

27 Adar* 5724,

Brooklyn, New York,

To the participants in the annual celebration of the supporters of the

Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Montreal,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

Your annual celebration takes place (note 1: See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 12, at page 150), this year, just after the Hilula* of the Rebbe Rashab* (note 2: The 2nd of Nissan*), founder of the first Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, in Lubavitch, with his son, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, co-founder and executive director of this Yeshivah*, in Lubavitch, then founder of the Yeshivah* Lubavitch of Montreal. One of the teachings delivered by the one whose Hilula* we celebrate, receiving a very particular value in our era, is the following:

"In our days, one cannot, one has no right to establish, on the basis of one's reasoning, what one has the means to do and what is impossible. In fact, one must immediately devote oneself to everything that must be improved, mobilizing all one's forces to achieve it. From that point on, Hashem grants His assistance."

(Kuntres U'Maayan*, at page 22)

This teaching applies more specifically to the domain of education. If, a few years ago, one could wonder, in certain circles, what one could expect from the new generation and what it is impossible to ask of it, or in what manner to "attract" it — in our days, on the other hand, it is very clear that the sole approach to education consists in placing it on the solid foundations of the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, without compromise (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 8694), without diminishment, with a firm resolution that one must act, at all cost, investing all one's forces. In such a case, one has the certainty of accomplishing, in the fullest manner, with the help of Hashem.

Moreover, our generation does not fear to take up a challenge (note 4: In English in the original text, "challenge") and it is always ready to accept the integral truth, rather than a half-truth or a quarter-truth. Such is the approach of Tomchei Temimim*, whose very name (note 6: Meaning: "Those who support the persons of integrity") recalls that: "the Torah* of Hashem is wholesome" (note 5: The Rebbe* underlines the words: "the Torah of Hashem is wholesome," "one and whole," "of integrity" and "whole"), the divine Torah*, its revealed part and its profound teaching, the Chassidus*, is one and whole (note 5). And, the students of integrity (note 5), Temimim*, are effectively whole (note 5), whole in their conceptions, whole in their conduct.

The success, with the help of Hashem, of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Montreal has shown the exactitude of this approach. One must hope that the important members of the community who have enabled the regular development of the Yeshivah*, both quantitative and qualitative, throughout all these years, will continue to mobilize all their forces in order to maintain and, even more, to expand everything that concerns the Yeshivah*. Without doubt, the merit of the strengthening of the Torah*, of its dissemination, as well as that of the Mitzvos*, will protect each man and each woman, in all needs, material and spiritual. With my blessing of success and to give me good news,
