By the grace of Hashem,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to

communal needs, the Rav Moshe (note 1: Rav M. Shayevitch, of Chicago. See, regarding him, letter no. 8641) HaKohen,

I greet you and bless you,

I obtained news of you with pleasure, some time ago, through the delegated Rabbanim*, distinguished Chassidim* who fear Hashem, the Chassid*, Rav Shneur Zalman HaLevi Duchman and the Chassid*, Rav Kaddish Romanov, who visited your city and transmitted to me your request for a blessing. At a propitious moment, I mentioned your name near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, in conformity with what you asked of me. May Hashem cause that you give me good news thereof.

We are approaching the days of Purim* of which it is said: "For the Jews, there was light, joy, gladness and value," according to the interpretation of our Sages (note 2: In tractate Megillah* 16b) as well as according to the simple meaning of this verse, in conformity with the established principle (note 3: In tractate Shabbos* 63a) according to which "a verse cannot be divested of its simple meaning." With my blessing to give me good news and for a joyous Purim*,

והרה"ח מו"ה קדיש שי' רומנוב.

אשר ביקרו במחנם הט' וגם מסרו לי בקשתו ברכה פ"נ.

ובעת רצון הזכרתים על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, מתאים לתוכן הבקשה, ויהי רצון אשר יבשר טוב בזה.

והרי מתקרבים אנו לימי הפורים, עליהם נאמר, ליהודים היתה אורה ושמחה וששון ויקר, כדרשת רז"ל וכפשוטו, שהרי כלל הוא, שאין מקרא יוצא מידי פשוטו.
