I have duly received your letter of the 17th of Teves*, as well as the one that preceded it. I respond here to your questions. As for your daughter, religious young women are exempt from conscription (note 1: In the Israel Defense Forces), as the verses Devarim* 22:5 and 23:10-15 state. Those who nevertheless claim to want to come to the aid of the Holy Land and enlist for this purpose can be compared (note 2: See, on this subject, letters no. 74535 and 7800), according to these same references, to someone who would extinguish a fire with petroleum, under the pretext that it is also a liquid, just like water.
