By the grace of Hashem,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

the Rav Yissachar Dov (note 1: Y. D. Weiss, of Los Angeles),

I greet you and bless you,

I have learned, with pleasure, through the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, of good conduct and multiple accomplishments, the Rav Menachem Shmuel David HaLevi Raichik (note 2: Emissary of the Rebbe* in Los Angeles), that you participated in the gathering of the day of the good tidings and the liberation of the 19th of Kislev*, a Chassidic* gathering. He also informed me of the gift of your pure heart, a concrete participation in Tzedakah*, in conformity with the commitment that you had previously made.

May Hashem cause that you be in a position to fully honor this commitment, even before what you imagine. And the assurance has been given to us (note 3: In tractate Yoma* 38b) that one comes to the aid of those who desire to purify themselves. Moreover, all of this took place during a Chassidic* gathering and one knows the words of the Admur HaZaken* (note 4: See the Igros Kodesh* of the Rebbe Rayatz*, volume 3, at letter no. 784), concerning a leaf that fell from heaven in the dew of lights, proclaiming that, by a decision of the members of the great assembly, disciples of our holy master (note 5: The Maggid* of Mezeritch*), "what a Chassidic* gathering can accomplish, the angel Michael* himself cannot do" (note 6: In Yiddish in the text, the rest of the letter being in Hebrew). Moreover, the 19th of Kislev* is also linked to the verse: "He has liberated my soul in peace."

נהניתי לקבלת הידיעה מהרה"ח אי"א נו"נ בעל מדות ורב פעלים מו"ה מנחם שמואל דוד שי' הלוי רייטשיק, על דבר השתתפותו בהתועדות יום בשורה ויום הגאולה י"ט כסלו, התועדות חסידותית, וגם ע"ד נדבת לבבו הט', נתינת צדקה בפועל על חשבון הבטחתו מזמן לפנים.

ויעזרהו השי"ת שיוכל לקיים הבטחתו במדה המלאה ועוד קודם שמשער, והובטחנו הבא לטהר מסייעין אותו, ובפרט שהנ"ל הי' בהתועדות כהאמורה, וידועים דברי רבנו הזקן, ע"ד הפסקא אשר משמי שמיא נחיתא בטל אורות בגזרת עירין קדישין בסוד החבריא קדישא תלמידי רבנו הקדוש, דאס וואס עס קען אויפטאן א חסידישער פארבריינגען קען מלאך מיכאל ניט אויפטאן.
