To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to

communal needs, the Rav Chaim Shlomo (note 1: Rav Ch. S. Palmer. See, regarding him, letter no. 7765),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of the 19th of Kislev*. At a propitious moment, your name will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, so that the wish of your heart be positively fulfilled, in all the points that you write to me.

More precisely, regarding the fact that you are the guest of honor of the evening that is organized for the benefit of the building of the synagogue and the Talmud Torah*, I have already transmitted and I reiterate in writing that this is a favorable practice for having long days and good years. Indeed, our Torah* is a Torah* of life. It is, moreover, "our life and the length (note 2: The Rebbe* underlines the word: "length") of our days." And it is the same for prayer, especially on such an evening, which also introduces good deeds and Tzedakah*. One finds here the three domains that are linked to the verse: "He has liberated my soul in peace," in conformity with the interpretation of our Sages* (note 3: In tractate Berachos* 8a): "The Holy One blessed be He says: whoever studies the Torah*, devotes himself to good deeds, and prays with the community... (note 4: 'I consider it as if he had liberated Me, with My children, from the nations of the world')"

Your letter was written on a propitious day, a date of good tidings, that of the liberation of the Admur HaZaken*, this year being the one hundred and fiftieth since his passing Hilula*. Now, he was liberated precisely while he was reading (note 5: See the Igros Kodesh* of the Admur HaZaken*, volume 1, letters no. 38 and 39) the verse: "He has liberated my soul in peace." With my respects and my blessing to give me good news,

בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע למילוי משאלות לבבו לטובה בכל הענינים אודותם כותב,

ובפרטיות בהנוגע להיות חתן הנשף לטובת בנין בית הכנסת ותלמוד תורה וכו', כבר מסרתי, ואכפול גם בכתב אשר הענין סגולה הוא לאריכות ימים ושנים טובות, שהרי תורתנו תורת חיים היא, ועוד אשר היא חיינו ואורך ימינו, ועד"ז ענין התפלה, ובפרט בנשף בכגון האמור שמצטרף בזה גם ענין גמילות חסדים וצדקה, שאז הרי יש בזה שלשת הענינים של פדה בשלום גו' וכדרז"ל: אמר הקב"ה העוסק בתורה ובגמילות חסדים ומתפלל עם הציבור וכו'

והרי נכתב מכתבו ביום סגולה ויום בשורה ושיחרורו של רבנו הזקן - אשר השנה שנת המאה וחמשים להסתלקות הילולא שלו - באמרו הפסוק פדה בשלום נפשי וגו'.
