To the honored Mr. Yosef Dekel, may he live,[1]

Peace and blessing!

After a long interval — although in the meantime I received regards from you — it was pleasant for me to receive his letter of 14 Marcheshvan, and also the book "The Spread of Nuclear Weapons in the World." And many thanks for his attention, and my hope is that in the future too he will send me his publications, including the books that have appeared in the interim; for knowing his energy, etc., surely since the last mailing he has published several more books.

Regarding what he writes in his previous letter, a copy of which he also encloses in this letter — about the vacuum created with the passing of Rabbi Pinchas Althaus, of blessed memory, and about the need to fill this vacuum: it is understood that he is correct in this. But unfortunately it is not a matter that can be resolved by saying to someone, "Arise and do." For the role is tied to the feelings of the heart, and [such a role] cannot be assigned from outside, but only after someone will be seen to be fitting and suitable for it. And my hope is that in the course of time such people will surely be found, and may it be the Will that this be soon, since it is most urgent, as you yourself write.

And as we stand in the days before the month of Kislev, the month of Redemption, I wish you — within the entirety of our people — redemption from all matters that confuse, so that each one of us may fulfill his role in proper health, and in joy and goodness of heart.

שלום וברכה!

אחרי הפסק ארוך, אף שבינתים קבלתי פ"ש מכ', נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מי"ד מרחשון, וכן הספר "התפשטות הנשק הגרעיני בעולם". ות"ח בעד שימת לבבו, ותקותי שגם להבא ימציא לי פרסומיו לרבות הספרים שהופיעו בינתים, כי בידעי מרצו וכו' הרי בודאי מאז משלוח האחרון הוציא לאור כמה וכמה ספרים.

במה שכותב במכתבו הקודם, שהעתק ממנו מצרף גם במכתבו זה, בענין החלל שנוצר עם פטירת ר' פנחס ע"ה אלטהויז ועל הצורך למלא חלל זה, מובן שצדק בזה, אבל לדאבוננו אינו ענין שאפשר לפתור על ידי אמירה למי שהוא קום ועשה. כי התפקיד קשור בהרגש הלב, ואינו ניתן למינוי מבחוץ, אלא לאחרי שיתראה מישהו ראוי ומתאים לזה. ותקותי שבמשך הזמן בודאי יימצאו כאלה, ויהי רצון שיהי' בהקדם, כיון שהוא נחוץ מאד, כמו שכ' כותב.

ובעמדנו בימים שלפני חודש כסלו, חודש הגאולה, אאחל לכ' בתוככי כללות עמנו גאולה מכל ענינים המבלבלים, בכדי שכל אחד מאתנו יוכל למלא תפקידו מתוך בריאות הנכונה ובשמחה וטוב לבב.
