Peace and blessing!

After a long delay I received his letter with the enclosures regarding the words of the Knesset member and the speech of his honor, may he live. And many thanks for his attention in sending them to me.

In our great iniquity, the later troubles make one forget — at least in the public's memory — the earlier ones; I refer primarily to the phenomena in Yerushalayim the Holy City. And although surely all have already recognized that the source of all these phenomena is one, therefore the wonder is all the greater at the absence of an appropriate reaction. And even granting that there is not just a slight shortcoming from a 100% appropriate [reaction], but much, much more than that.

It is simple that before my eyes stands the statement of the Mishnah* "judge not your fellow, etc.," and I strive, on the basis of the commandment to find merit, etc., and to repeat this to myself again and again. But after all this, the question still stands in its full force.

And may it be the Will that at last the Jewish people come into correspondence one with another solely with regard to ascent in holiness, from good to better, etc. And in the language of the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and the Shulchan Aruch, whose 150th yahrzeit is this year, regarding the end of days: that "then the occupation with Torah and mitzvos will not be to refine clarifications, but rather to unite higher unifications." And even in the days leading up to the coming of Moshiach, the end of the exile — though still before the beginning of the Redemption — there must be something similar to this, as the accepted Jewish custom is that on Erev Shabbos one already tastes from the foods of Shabbos Kodesh.

שלום וברכה!

באיחור זמן רב קבלתי מכתבו עם המצורף בו בהנוגע לדבריו של ח.כ. ונאום כת"ר שי', ות"ת על שימת לבבו לשלחם לי.

בעוה"ר הרי צרות האחרונות משכחות - עכ"פ בזכרונו של הציבור - את הראשונות, כוונתי בעיקר להתופעות בירושלים עיה"ק ת"ו, אף שבודאי כבר נוכחו הכל אשר מקור כל תופעות אלו אחד הוא, שלכן גדולה התמי' עוד יותר על העדר תגובה מתאימה, ואת"ל לא רק שחסר קצת למאה אחוז של התאמה, אלא הרבה הרבה יותר מזה.

פשוט שלנגד עיני דבר המשנה אל תדין את חברך כו', ומשתדל אני על יסוד הציווי ללמד זכות וכו' ולשננו עוה"פ ועוה"פ. אבל לאחרי כל זה עדין הקושי' בתקפה עומדת.

ויהי רצון אשר סוף סוף יבואו בני ישראל בקישור מכתבים איש לרעהו אך ורק בנוגע להעלאה בקדש מטוב אל המובחר וכו', ובלשון רבינו הזקן, בעל התניא והשו"ע, שהשנה היא שנת הק"ן להסתלקותו, בנוגע לאחרית הימים, ש"אזי לא יהי' עסק התורה והמצוות לברר בירורין, כי אם ליחד יחודים עליונים יותר". והרי גם בעקבתא דמשיחא, סוף הגלות, אף שעדין עוד קודם אתחלתא דגאולה, צריך להיות משהו מעין זה, וכמנהג ישראל המקובל אשר בערב שבת כבר טועמים ממאכלי שבת קדש.
